How do you find out where the person with the avatar is in-game? Are there consistent locations I just don't know about?

I'm asking ahead of double xp weekend, because I want to be standing next to them for max xp.

If you open the clan chat there's a button on the lower left to open extended options. Click it while keeping your cursor over it. Then click on the cork board looking button. That will tell you who has an avatar. Then I would suggest asking that person in clan chat.
