In my ideal world the score the Vex tells you you got would recognize all the necessary deductions - it would be easier for players and JMods alike but there are technical difficulties with doing so. It is high on my list for next years cup though.

We would be unlikely to present scoring information in more detail though and I cannot see us being likely to get Web Dev time to make a player facing "hi-scores" for the cup.

It is unlikely we would be able to break competitions up across the year - that would make the Clan Cup less effective as an RS event and would increase the workload overall. It is not something we are likely to do therefore.

I agree with not breaking the competition up throughout the year. Personally, I would be unlikely to check every few months to see when the next competition was - and would probably miss some events. :P

One thing I appreciated about this year's skilling competitions was the vexillum method used to start skilling sessions. I personally think updates / events that highlight existing content in a new and useful way are highly effective and educational to players. Also it was a nice excuse to explain existing clan content to players that were unfamiliar. ;)

Well a lot less stressful than previous years - this year felt like a damp squib. A lot of that was lack of timely information. I am commenting on the Skill Cup only. A few ideas / observations.

1. If the event started mid week (say at weekly reset) there would be more time to sort issues out. With the last 48 hours of the week being the weekend there was no chance of Jagex answering any issues in time for us to work round them. In addition the weekend is a time many can't get on - so for us it meant planning, issues and the 3 runs were often squeezed into the 1st 5 days. A midweek start may also help get the results out in a more timely manner.

2. Overall scoring - We still have no idea how the final results (total from the 6 weeks) was arrived at. Not only did the result take 2 weeks to come out but it is meaningless without knowing how it was arrived at. ( by the time it came out we had all lost interest)

3. Lack of information & answers . Many questions just went unanswered. I raised an issue in Runecraft week - what we thought was a bug. We chose not to use it as we did consider it a bug - but come the competition next year we will have exactly the same issue - because we never got a reply.

4. Things change every year. The reason for an item being banned 1 year may not hold water the next. An example is brawlers (heaven help me I really do not want to use them but...). They were banned because they were only available via combat - for the past year with Priff thieving this is not the case.
.

Yea brawlers was an interesting one, they are more widely available these days but i can still see why people dont like them, give or take for me that one really.

The lack of response and information is simply from having too much on their plate at one time. If they dont want to split up the comps then at least get individual staff to do each individual comp.

I did like the skilling cup this year! We also did won the Iron Skilled cup to our surprise!

Hopefully we get some rewards for that ;)

It would be nice if it was possible to see as clan leader who all done a session and the amount XP everyone did get with his section or that this can be posted later.

As like last year, my clan enjoyed participating this year in the skilling cup very much and were fortunate enough to win, I do have some feedback though :>

The improvements to the vex system were good, though a few clan members lost sessions from dcing, it certainly was better than people being able to abuse the session timer like last year.

As Scret said, the total session scores were a bit confusing and it would of been nice to have seen the real score given, especially as we would try and work out what our averages were each week from comparing scores, we had a variety of scores from the vex, but this wasn't a huge issue really.

My main issue I feel I had with this year was the delivery of results and the number of times you told us Soon™, I think almost every week you promised to release a full list of XP scores for each clan later in the week and that never came. Results are still being verified too apparently..This was most frustrating honestly and it happened week on week and never happened. If you are not 100% definite about being able to deliver something, don't promise or even mention it happening >.<

It also took over 2 weeks for you to release the final results of the whole 6 weeks after the week 6 was completed, this was too long, I remember delivery for individual weeks and the final results being much quicker last year.

I also feel like the clan cup this year was managed solely by you, despite you saying:

Original message details are unavailable.
Original message details are unavailable.
What other Jmods will be managing the Jagex Clan Cup competition this year? (Or are you alone?)

The whole of the Community team will be involved in managing the Clan Cup this year.

I don't think I saw any of the community team actively posting on the Clan cup forums, except for Kalaya telling us shf are banned.

And surely if the whole community team were involved, delivery of each results should be faster? As winners of the skilling cup, it’s been almost a month since week 6 finished and no one has contacted us about rewards and how we go about submitting a clan logo which we were excited about >.<
Lastly, to follow up for next year, I would like to see something different with the skilling cup, the same 6 skills 3 years running wouldn’t be very original however I know using buyable skills would also not be wise. Otherwise, I would like to suggest that each week you don’t tell us the results, as you can see from week 1, 133 clans participated and in week 6 this was down to 62, over half of the clans lost interest! This is simply because as the competition progressed clans realised there was not much chance in being towards the top of the list as it was no longer a level playing field. Perhaps if results are not realised each week (or if only 1st place was shown) it would not discourage clans lower down in the list to give up.

Thanks again for bringing us the clan cup, it’s great to see it being run by Jagex but I would of liked to see more Jmod support around the forums promoting the competition and answering questions, not just you, Matthe.

Please do let us know about our rewards xxx

Here is my feedback:

My clan this year only participated in the skilling cup, and it was way better than previous cups. The whole selecting 10 members each week was tiresome and made some clan members feel excluded, and this way was a great improvement. Some weeks we had trouble selecting the 10 members, and one time I accidentally forgot to enter the clan for the agility week. The new system makes it easier for all of the clan cup team leaders as well as the members.

Now for the skills, it's quite obvious these will never change to make them unbuyable, but every year I have seen that there are more ways to buy the unbuyable skills and get better xp/h. I would really prefer having the prohibited items/methods announced way before hand, possibly with feedback from this forum from here until the next clan cup.

I disagree with the above poster (although huge congratulations on the win!!!!) regarding the weekly results. It's true that they discourage some clans, but it also greatly incentivises clans that are in the threshold (as mine was) and announcing them weekly is a great way to thank participating members for their contribution and gives them morale for future weeks.

One thing I'd change though is the communication. In the middle the whole competition was paused for Runefest I believe, but the post wasn't easily found, so many clanmates were at a loss on what was happening, and other than that, the communication was good.

I'd like to thank you Mod Matthe for everything you did!

PS One other thing I'd like back would be the extra cups, while I couldn't participate in last year's questing cup due to the clan being full, the acorn cup was fun, and other fun, extra cups would be really appreciated! :P
