found this really interesting about DDOS.

Don't get me started on open DNS resolvers. This guy was going on about Monlist on time servers, well the time servers are necessary. Open DNS resolvers are not...
There is absolutely no reason anyone, anywhere needs to have an internet facing, opened, unsecure, DNS server. It's just not necessary! Poor network administration is what that is...
I can find a server with an unfiltered port 53 wide open, spoof my ip address and send a zone transfer command to it, which will prompt a response consisting of every dns record on the server being sent to the spoofed IP. Find a big enough server that's been misconfigured and imagine the field day you could have!

Then you have anonymous, the once all powerful final boss of the internet. Trolls that troll other trolls, hackers and lunatics alike. Now reduced to nothing more than script kiddies who downloaded LOIC and attack government websites claiming to represent a cause but really they are just bored.

Oh! Then you have the old physical infrastructure of different countries, like power plants and the like that were built before the internet. The internet comes out and they plug these old buildings right in without any thought of security. There s a website (which I will not divulge the name of) that acts a search engine for these different kinds of things. You search through it and can pull up power plants, routers, hell you can find baby monitors on it.

The internet is a scary place when you step back and look at the big picture, but if you dive into it gets scarier and scarier the deeper you go. There is no way of telling what resides in the darkest recesses of the web, what monsters lie waiting to be rediscovered after decades of slumber...

@Ryan

The scariest part is that the core infrastructure is from the 1980's and has not been updated in any significant way since.... 1986.
Bare in mind the basis of this core infrastructure was only ever intended to send messages one way.... very short messages one way.

Various ISPs are updating their line speed and there are an increasing number of devices reliant on the internet increasing the load.
Basically there is a constantly increasing strain on a core infrastructure that is ancient, although governments and ISPs are improving the speed at which the service gets to you they are not putting any cash into updating the core infrastructure.

It is literally a ticking time bomb, at some stage possibly in the not to distant future the internet could literally just fail, obviously then someone would have to do something but as we have become more and more reliant on it the panic that might cause could be dangerous.

THEN you have the "Internet of things" coming up as we progress further towards IPv6 and its 340 undecillion addresses (imagine one ip address for every grain of sand on the planet) allowing every device to connect to a network. Every... device...
Computers, phones, tablets, MP3 players, stereos, Refrigerators, cars, game consoles, laundry baskets, swimming pools, bathtubs, toilets, beds, chairs, hell even your toothbrush could all be connected to the internet.

If this is the golden age of internet piracy imagine what that will be like...

OMG - on age of empires, someone has made a runescape castle wars map. :D perfect combination :)

I used to LOVE AoE! I had/have all 3 games, with the add-ons that came out later!

I don't think I'd be doing any multiplayer though. The first time I did on the original AoE, someone was using a bot script to win O_o

P.S. There's a hidden map in the files for Age of Empires 2. Ask me if you want steps for finding it :P

Thank you, KatieKat! I tried to send a pm in response to your congrats and it wouldn't go through. It was quite the clan celebration and we had lots of fun! Now on to the quest cape! Shadesidhe - Deputy Owner of
