Once upon a time there was a kitten. The family that owned her didn't want her anymore so they dropped her off on the side of the road in the winter.

She cried and cried, but no one came. It was so cold and she began to shiver, lost and alone. Then she caught a scent in the air that made her tummy rumble. She was so hungry.

So she followed the scent and came to my front door. She meowed and meowed until I heard her. I went to the door to find this skinny, cold, wet kitten shivering and looking so bedraggled.

I picked her up and brought her inside. Then I warmed some milk and gave that her. I had kittie cookies so gave her a few of them too. When she was through her little belly was full.

I picked her up and put her in my lap. At first she purred and then finally nodded off as sleep claimed her.

And now every day, she has a warm home, a full belly and a loving lap to curl up in.
