I feel better.
I logged in game and took 5 of my clanmates into the near impregnable Bandosian fortress of world 66. With the help of some locals, we managed to help take and hold the Port Sarim node for a whle. Afterwards we ran over to the South Eastern Varrock node where we killed 2 Bandosians, captured the node and made a Combat Monalith. Then we bailed because we were about to be swarmed.
We were standing just out of sight of the node debating on if we should go back in when one of my clanmates said a perfectly timed quote from Return of the King.
Gimili: "Certainty of death, small chance of success... What are we waiting for?"
We decided to yolo and charged in screaming "Charge!" or "onwards!" or "Once more unto the breach dear friends!" (That last one was me). So 5 of us plus like 3 locals all run back up to the node ready to fight and possibly die, only to find it was entirely empty. It was the most anticlimactic thing I've ever seen.
While we were still trying to figure out what exactly happened, a Bandos convoy showed up with like 25 Bandosians following it. We fought and somehow managed to kill off every last Bandosian following that convoy without losing a single man. In actuality I think we lost one of the locals but I'm not going to count that as a loss. After we got over the initial shock of winning the skirmish we decided to stand our ground. A few minutes passed and our opponents came back, more numerous than before. We held the line for a couple minutes before finally being overwhelmed by near 6 to 1 odds, but not before taking quite a few of our foes with us.
It truly was a battle worthy of Sparta, Leonidas would have been proud. The last stand of the 5 knights.
What say you to that Matthe? We struck at the heart of the Bandosian fortress word, and between the 5 of us claimed over 100 kills! Where is your god now...
