Hey Everyone :)

Last Year I made a thread suggesting that the LFC Forums could do with some extra guidelines on what people looking for a clan could include in their posts. As I said on the other thread, this would only be a guideline, not a mandatory requirement for people to post on the forum.

I am re-posting this idea, as I still think this is a simple idea that could do some good. I didn't particularly want to grave bump the previous thread, given its age, so here is the reposted idea with a few small tweaks :P .

The main area of this suggestion is to add additional guidelines for people looking for a clan on the Read Me First! sticky thread.

The contents I am suggesting to be added, in essence, is a suggestion to include basic information to recruiters. The post below is my suggested new Read Me First! thread.

This forum is here for players to advertise that they are looking for a clan.

It is also the place to advertise your skills so that clans who are focused on the same areas can find you easily. :)

To help recruiters tailor their invites to your requirements, It is suggested you provide information on what kind of clan you are looking for and, if relevant, the levels/ equipment you have.

Below is a basic suggested format that you can choose to use.
Combat Level:
Total Level:
Type of clan I am looking for:
Preferred Time-zone:
Extra Information:

PLEASE NOTE!

It is not a section for clans to post recruitment threads! You may post in other threads if you think your clan is a good fit for those looking for a clan, but no clan advertising threads, please ^_^

Thanks, and good luck in your search for a clan!

I believe this is a simple change that could, over time, benefit the LFC forums. It is hoped this would help provide recruiters with more information to determine whether the recruitee is right for their clan, reducing time wasted for both parties involved.

This format would perhaps also encourage recruiters to opt for a more personalised approach when recruiting, especially if there is more information to use when posting a response.

The main reason I am suggesting this, is because, some threads on the LFC forum provide very basic amounts of information, and although some of the information could be found via the Adventurers log, some members have this on private. Furthermore, it would be speedier for recruiters if they didn't have to dig for extra information, which can be quite the time waste when it isn't possible to check their clan status if they have the adventurers log on private.

The basic level of information does encourage recruiters to resort to either generic copy & paste replies (regardless of whether it was asked for or not) or very simplistic responses, which could be improved if more information on what the individual was looking for had been provided.

Just to note: I am not suggesting Copy & paste invites are a bad thing, as I do think they are a useful means to display clan information in quick, easy-to-use chunks. But, for some threads the invites are not relevant to the thread creators levels or clan requirements.

Please let me know what you think :)

I agree, replying to looking for a clan threads can be very tedious if the LFC author does not specify his desired clan needs.
It will also be a format for people to use which is nice.

and yet it's mostly the same idea and content, with all of our feedback and opinions wiped clean on this thread. I think the definition of grave bump needs a makeover personally.. If OP is restarting the thread, a repost is really not needed IMO. The problem is when a non-OP bumps a dead thread, at that point just remake the thread.

On-topic, I'm not really sure I see this as a necessary thing, but I guess I don't either support or not support the idea. I'm neutral on it :p

A recommended format would be nice, but I'm curious as to how often it will even get used. If people can't bother to specify their needs already will they bother to use/look at the recommended format?
"Why are you posting threads, asking questions and making discussion???"

Agreed, its a good idea and theres no harm in doing it so i support but anyone whos not going to bother to to specify their needs certainly wouldnt be looking at guidelines.

I don't look for clannies there as most dutch people check out the dutch forums or Lunagang when looking for a clan.

But I like ur idea however, so support for those who often check for members there ^_^

I agree that its highly likely that those who don't post much information probably also didn't read the read me first thread, but if it encourages even a few more people to provide a bit more information, it should be of benefit.

Other than that, I don't see this change creating any negative issues.
