Hello,

I had a question about clan events and what we're allowed to do within the rules.

Are we allowed to hold 50/50 type raffle events?

Are we allowed to host competitions where you "buy in" and then those funds are used for the prizes?

Are there any other rules or is there information posted somewhere that I could read up on?

I'm no expert but I think it boils down to anything that relies on people giving you money and hoping you'll accurately run a legit RNG = trust trading and player-run game of chance
So Jagex frown upon it.

Really good info, I appreciate that Grinchy Kat!

Any idea on the stance of accepting voluntary clan donations for events? Such as, 10 people donate and those funds are later used for prizes for clan competitions or events such as hide n' seek etc?

Sorry for the questions but just trying to make sure we're operating within bounds.

On page 7 of that thread, Mod Matthe discusses HnS events:
"- a competition in game should be fine. Hide and seek with prizes should be fine. Avoid an entry fee and it makes it look less like something someone would have to check against the games of chance rules."

I think this comment from Sicariu on Cld sums it up very well:
"Basically, it comes down to how competition entry and prize distribution are handled.

If an entry fee is required, this qualifies as player-run games of chance (i.e. gambling) because a buy-in is required to win, and this is not allowed. If competition entry is free, and prizes come from voluntary donations, then that is allowed because it isn't gambling."

So as long as they are voluntarily making the choice to donate and are not forced or required pay in order to participate in the event, you should be good. :)
