The big problem, and the one which put people off participating in our clan, was that the method of starting was not made clear.
Ultimately, a player had to create a
forum thread
telling others how to initiate the event, which clearly shows that communication was not up to par this time.

Personally I found it fun, but I know most in our clan, didn't feel BGH was worth learning so most didn't know how to play it, was our down fall. Our clan mates did not attempt it. (apart from the odd few)
Perhaps if this cup ever returns, maybe give a chat message to the direct player about the competition. (I know we have clan broadcasts for this, which was set, but I find most have those turned off or they ignore them lol )

As Rey Ray said it was a struggle to find ten players. My clan is very small and only one or two ppl actually do BGH. If it had been more along the lines of old clan skills cup. Non buyable skills then we would have easily been able to get a team together.
Also the clan cup is meant to bring clans together so having a single player instanced activity as the focus didn't seem to fit.
The slight 'oversight' by you had could have been easily avoided if you went with the rules from the original clan cups:
NO BOOSTS ALLOWED. ONLY BASS XP COUNTS TOWARDS YOUR SCORE.
Simple unambiguous and no arguments.
There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
I tried to encourage my members to take part in this but it didn't have the enthusiasm needed as it is a lot of grinding for very little gain (the prizes were not worthwhile). As others have said the instructions for starting a session were not clear until half way through the week.
It didn't help that this is new content too with various boosts obtainable from from, for example, building up your hunting lodge and other things that my members didn't have time to unlock so were instantly at a disadvantage.
My clan members love XP competitions, they love killing bosses but this felt all too much like Jagex pushing the new content instead of trying to run a fun competition.
Exactly one player in my clan of over 200 showed interest and played a single round. BGH just isn't that popular. Try something more mainstream next time if you want people to notice.
Changing the rules partway thru the competition isn't a good look, either. Once rules are set for a competition, don't change them until that competition is over.
- It was very dissapointing that it was not the most popular content. There were a lot of clannies who never done BGH, some tried to do it for the first time for clan cup tho.
- At some point it was also for those new clannies to try it almost impossible to get a good score due the fact No Hunter lodge/Quick traps.
- Even in a large clan as mine we struggled to get 10 participants in the beginning. Cause most didn't like it or not experienced in it.
- Also we'd like that clan cups are open to anyone, now a lot of clannies could't even do an entry cause no BGH content available.
- Also maybe for the futur make it so that F2P clans atleast can enter in a competition.

I liked the new button at the top of the clan tab to start a session. Nice touch instead of having to do it via vexillum like previous cups.
Agreed with others that in future clan cups having an explicit catch all disclaimer about no boosts being counted (in addition to the non exhaustive list being included) would help create a level playing field.
