Good day, fellow leaders!

A few months ago, in February, I made a thread here about how my clan was barely struggling to get by.

I'm pleased to announce that I have found a recruiting method that works very very well for me, and we are growing at a steady pace, even with our total level requirement. I'm proud to say my clan is doing very well, even after a recent crisis we had where I made someone else the owner and they kicked every single person in the clan save myself.

But... I won't get into that. Instead, I'll ask for your advice on a different subject. A subject I'm sure you of all people would know quite a bit about. I'm looking on advice on getting strong leaders.

This is not a thread asking for other leaders. I've already posted on Lissa's "Looking For Admins?" thread (thank you, Lissa, for posting that by the way!) I'm simply asking how to find those people.

Over the years, I've come across loyal, helpful clanmates who have helped me run my clan. However, most of those people are no longer with us. We have 2 overseers who are doing a decent job, but aren't necessarily as dedicated as the people I've had in the past.

Got any tips for me? A strong leadership team is the last thing our clan needs to be successful. Leave your thoughts and comments below. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

You have to work with what you have and accept that when people grow older they'll have less time to spend in an online game. Spread out the workload and have higher ranks do the things they enjoy and are good at. If you can't have 2 good leaders, get 3-4 councils and have them fulfil the the same jobs you'd assign to the 2 leaders. A clan is something you have to work on together and isn't just the leader's task to run. Having the clan depend on more people instead of a few makes it a lot more future proof, as nearly everyone becomes inactive at some point.

Honestly, it's not a great idea to just recruit someone on the basis of being an admin. In a majority, people are probably applying to be admin because they like the power that comes with it. I know you may be desperate for a leadership team, but it's best to look at who you're recruiting, and if you feel certain ones can be trusted, talk to them how'd they feel about taking on a leadership role, and if they're happy, and you're trusting of them, fast-track their rank.
If you're still unsure, make sure that you set the settings to higher ranks so they can't mess with too much stuff. Yes, they can still kick, but I think the limit is 2 a day, so you could possibly find out pretty quickly whose doing the kicking. Hey, if need be, activate the kicking broadcast so you know who kicked who (as long as you're online).

I've always found those who want the power, aren't necessarily deserving, nor the best at having the power.
Also remember, you don't have to have Co-Ordinator etc. anything above Admin is fine to demonstrate a leadership role - and make sure the person you're promoting knows what their specific role is. i.e. Is it recruiting? Keeping an eye on inactives? That sort of thing.

I would say work with the clan you have. Sometimes bringing in someone to fulfill a high rank roll has caused a little jealousy and hard feelings with other people that may have worked hard to get admin rank. I would try to rank up with what you have rather than recruit to bring in with specific roll in mind. Once someone is in your clan and you talk to them regularly then you can see if they have leadership qualities or bring to the clan what you are looking for.

If you see someone in your clan with good qualities talk to them and rank them up appropriately for you clan until they are in admin position.

For me one of the things I look for is loyalty (how long they've been in the clan) and then how clan oriented they are (how much they do for the clan). Almost all my admins minus 2-3 have been in the clan for well over 3 years.

However length of time isn't the most important because if someone has been in the clan 6 months and is doing more then someone who's been in the clan 2 years I'd pick the first person.

In addition look at what you're members are doing, I know mine well we talk on discord and on RS so I judge their characteristics and the attributes they have.

I look for strong communication,organisational,manafmental skills and more (they don't need to have all of these)

I then promote and assign a key rank to be a mentor or keep an eye on the new admin so they can find their feet and grow into their new shoes.

That is one of the biggest challenges I have with my clan, and we're pretty big and established. I guess it's just quality over quantity and asking each person who joins if they would be interested in a position (probably best if they earn it first tho)
