So I'm a heavy afk'er. When I didn't use to PC game, I played on my xbox - and so I had a laptop with Runescape running, which I glanced to to ensure I didn't time out, and a TV with my xbox game - which I concentrated on.
As it is now, I afk, but it's easier to reply to messages because I have 2 monitors (master race!) so I can afk on one screen, and have RS open on the other - but it's still easy to miss chat.

I don't think I know anyone who scrolls up in their chat when they get back from being afk. Because no one does it.
Unfortunately, as much as you hate it, a lot of skills in Runescape are afk and so it is something you have to deal with. Just keep messaging them and hope for the best.

There's nothing wrong with it, i play other games while i fish and can miss a lot txt if im heavily engaged in the other game, someone telling me i shouldnt be doing that is quite laughable and i think ill just ignore the bot comment.

How difficult is it to scroll up and see if someone has said your name though? Or to check if you have any private messages?
That's the main thing I don't get. I'm afking dark beasts as I type this, and it's easy enough to just take a glance at chat.

...Or maybe it's not?

Depends what youre doing but then again how difficult it is or not is irrelevant, if people dont want to pay 100% attention sometimes then thats their own business lol

You just have to understand that if someone is afk they are busy and try not to take offense lol, you can always try again later if it's important. Personally i just soak up the awkward silence and carry on with whatever i was doing. :P

I appreciate your feedback, everyone. From your feedback I've taken on a new... assumption (for lack of better words atm) about people who don't respond;

It's less because ' they just don't care to even read their chat window ' and more so that ' with their play style they don't got time for that .' Lol.

To clear something up I don't 'hate' AFKers. No. I was once told that hate is a strong word. It is true that I get quite annoyed by the unresponsiveness. Mainly because usually I'm trying to contact them to tellem they are at risk of being kicked. A reply would at least show their appreciation. But oh well.

I do quite a bit of multitasking when I play. I'm usually shuffling 2 other things while playing, such as clan spreadsheets, movies, social media etc. I still have plenty of time to watch chat while doing that stuff.... and unless I lobby because I went to do something away from the computer, I don't miss much conversation at all.
So I'll keep in mind that reading chat is part of my play style and accept that it isn't a priority for most others.

If anyone has more to add, by all means. :P
