Introduction

Hello, ladies and gentlemen, if any of this has been suggested before, I do apologise. This will take me a little while to compose my thoughts in a coherent manner, so please excuse the empty thread, it will be updated. Thank you for your patience.

Good morning, afternoon or perhaps evening, depending on the time at which you read this. I hope you are well. For the sake of brevity, I'll keep introductions as short as possible.

Clans had their big year of updates and focus back in 2011, I believe. This is at least when the Clan Citadel was released (26 - 07 - 11). It has therefore been 9 years since any real attention was shone onto this (what I would call) 'Social Content'.

In a game such as RuneScape which is increasingly AFK intensive; community dwindles. This is perpetuated by the advancement of technology such as Discord, which further segments the community into different channels for the purposes of VOIP.

The end result is a game that on the surface is expansive and full of content, but underneath is devoid of life and little more than a 'watch the paint dry' simulator. Not everybody uses Discord, not everybody AFK's and therefore Clans are, I feel, the wall that holds back the deafening silence.

It is for this reason, and the good of the community at large, that I believe Clans to be deserving of another spotlight year.

Citadel Upgrade - Slayer

Archaeology, coupled with the unfortunate emergence of CoronaVirus has brought a lot of returning and new players to RuneScape. Many of these people seem more than willing to get involved in a clan and feel a sense of camaraderie.

One of the biggest pulls of clans is the Citadel, which of course has various skills that become accessible for training as you advance through the tiers; one of the biggest problems facing many clans is upkeep, whether that be visitors or resources.

I believe that a little re-work on the Citadels to introduce Slayer as a viable skill, which contributes to resources, would not only boost the interest in clans and Citadels amongst the community, but also make upkeep far easier to achieve.

How it would work

Due to the nature of appeal I believe that this would work best at tier 1 of the Citadel. A low level Slayer Master would reside near the walls (location unimportant) aiding in the defense of the Citadel from low level monsters (a battle animation would be ongoing akin to the Gnomes vs Khazard battlefield, clan guards would fight off these monsters).

- Monsters levels could begin at level 20 and yield 100 Slayer experience per kill.
- They could be capped at 50 kills (5,000 xp) at tier 1.
- Each would drop 5 of the resource that has been marked by Admin (defaults to wood).

As the Citadel (and Slayer Plot) upgrades, so too would the NPC's and exp gain. This would encourage levelling amongst all members. Death would work as normal.

- Tier 2 - level 40 - 200 XP - 50 Cap (10,000 XP) - 250 Resources
- Tier 3 - level 60 - 300 XP - 55 Cap (16,500 XP) - 275 Resources
- Tier 4 - level 80 - 400 XP - 55 Cap (22,000 XP) - 275 Resources
- Tier 5 - level 100 - 600 XP - 60 Cap (36,000 XP) - 300 Resources
- Tier 6 - level 120 - 800 XP - 60 Cap (48,000 XP) - 300 Resources
- Tier 7 - level 140 - 1,000 XP - 60 Cap (60,000 XP) - 300 Resources

Clan Banking

This is not a concept that is new to MMO's or indeed even RuneScape. Are there issues? Yes. Does that mean we should abandon the idea? I don't think so. If you read my above post, then thank you. I mentioned that death in the Citadel should work as it does throughout all of the RuneScape world. There was a reason for that.

Clan banks are open to exploit, but no more than luring or scamming or any other activity. I suggest that the clan bank resides in the Citadel, on the ground floor along with the Quartermaster. Admins would be able to set the required rank to donate, which would correspond equally to the required rank to remove, from the clan bank.

Items that are able to be placed into the clan bank would be limited, as would the quantity. A cap would also be placed on how much an individual person could donate and withdraw to and from the clan bank.

For example;

Clan Bank Space
- 50 Items
Limit on food per stack
- 2,000
Limit on food deposit per person
200 (per week)
Limit on food withdrawal
28 (per person, per week)
Coins
None bankable
Armour and Weapons
None bankable
Limit on potions stack
100 (only tradable potions)
Limit on potions deposit
10 (per week)
Limit on potions withdrawal
2 (per potion per week)
Maximum material of skilling tools
Rune
Limit on tool stack
10
Limit on maximum wealth contained within bank
10 Million GP

The reason why a clan bank would be an important addition is that it would facilitate the reduction of risk for players attending dangerous events. It would allow members to supplement and support each other without the risk of game breaking abuse or scamming.

Ironman and HCIM would be unable to use the bank.
