Is that Jagex's stance or yours?

Its just an obvious conclusion

Banning these accounts isnt the solution so why bother.

Wow I wonder if any J-Mods would agree with you that it's a waste of time reporting them.

Obviously not publicly but the smart thing to do would be to spend time finding an actual solution rather than concentrate on wasted efforts of constantly banning and reporting this easy to avoid scam.

Im quite sure theres already a system in place to detect and ban these accounts anyway.

Every time this comes up i always bring up having safety notices appear in the lobby or on the loading screen but that would mean removing some of the MTX advertisement and Jagex wouldnt want that now would they.

The only positive experience I've had with a p-mod in the decade+ I've played were two community events I attended this year hosted by player mods. Those were enjoyable.

Years prior, when I had a concern and expressed it to a p-mod, I got what seemed to be a canned response of 'just keep playing like you've been playing and don't worry about it (*pat on the head*)'. They were of no help whatsoever and honestly didn't appear to care.

The positive experiences with the events is something that could have been sponsored by clans and promoted by Jagex. They weren't something unique that could only be done by player mods at all.

Maybe the best way to protect the community from such scams is to not have player mods.

I'm sorry to hear you've been dealing with this again lately! I actually got this pm about a week or so ago myself. I've seen a few clanmates jokingly state the same when they get solicited from these types of accounts.

When I see someone mention it in clan I almost always reply with the quick chat option - "How will Jagex contact me about my account?" and usually several clanmates reply with the quick chat option - "Jagex will contact you in your in-game message centre."

Most of our clan is aware of this scam by this point, but I do worry about those who may not. Unfortunately our best defense is to educate our members and help them spot these types of scams.

That's not even a scam, it's a popular knowledge that you don't get a message ingame about possibility of becoming a player moderator, so if someone somehow fall for it I guess it's his own fault for now reading terms & conditions. All you have to do is report such player and put him on your ignore list - work done. :)

The scam was never gone neither is it returning. It's just floating around at the same rate it has always been.

In fact people are prompted to read the game rules when joining the game, so education is the only way to beat it.

Well yea player mods are pointless, If they actually picked people on merit and gave them actual benefit it wouldnt be so bad. Its a good point.
