Support, but I prob whould still keep an offsite forum aswell. But since some do not want to use that for security reasons or w/e this might be nice. Since the forums on Clan page kinda suck Ceecs - leader of Ceecs Clan

Support ive moved everything to discord because its so easy .

But even discord people dont feel safe .

I ask everyone in my clan thats over 150 active account s 240 in clanto say hi in recruitment forums but it ends up with 2 people talking to self.

My clan find it very hard to find things unless you smash it over there heads s .

Is Runescape an mmo ??

If it is then surely clans Need a clan home base

Thats very easy to find

With the freedom of normal forums to post screenshots and weblinks like the main forums have.

I understand need for rules my clan has alot more than most.

But every clan has to move out of game wich then makes the Rules Pointless .

If people dont like my rules dont join my clan. ! is runescape saying same thing with forums !

Very much support this idea. Others are saying they don't know if it's possible, but I'm simply envisioning a link in the form of a forum – ie how Clan Leaders is a forum – whose icon will be your clan's vexillum, whose title will be "[Your clan name]: Private Clan Forums", and who will list the number of posts, thread and last post time as any other forum would.

This is based off of an idea I came up with in November 2016 (which can be found here )The owner would have all abilities when it comes to moderation of the forum, such as hiding posts, locking/stickying threads. having threads where all posts are only visible by people above X rank. (possibly more), with the owner being able to choose who (either by rank, or person) also has these abilites.

I don't think we need extra features like locking, etc. We should just stick with the features we have at the moment. But we should re-skin the clan forums so they appear more in-line with regular forums. That way they fit into their new location 'in' the regular forums (and are more easily accessible), but they still have a 'clan flair', and aren't too easily confused with a forum that FMods can moderate.

edit: concept art! –

Clicking this ^ is the same as clicking "View Forums", the same way we get to our clan forums at the moment.

( )

Both links now lead us to this:

Potentially and hopefully reskinned to look better and act more functionally.

:)

Notes: a "blank" sub-forum would not appear for someone not in a clan; as with everything, there should be a toggle option so that players can turn this link to their private clan forums above/in Speciality Forums off. Some people do not use their private forums [regularly], and would find a link here unnecessary.

These forums are designed to be compliant with COPPA. They're not designed to be accessible for people with visual disabilities nor intended to be used by developers who want to build a brand; they're designed to be safe to use for minors.

Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

In 2017, GoDaddy acquired a Web Security company called Sucuri which made it cheap for content creators to secure their websites which used any kind of PHP Web Application like WordPress, PHPBB, MYBB, SMF, IPB, etc. Pretty much anything that used MYSQL and FTP to a Linux Host could now be secured at a low cost.

For many years, I learned from offsite forums. Being able to use BB Code and experiment with HTML from the age of 13, encourage me to become a programmer. I owe in part the life I have today to the Clan Founders who built our first offsite forum. And I hope that with learning websites like w3schools.com, code.org and learnitanytime.com the kids of the Net Generation learn to code because it is really valuable skill.

Now I freelance making lots and lots of money building WordPress websites and I am very very close to marketing and monetizing my new IPS Community Suite website. I just need to fix a few little things on the back-end before I can start content creating and further develop our front-end.

I'm working with graphic designers, web designers, branding consultants, junior developers, etc. to build something that doesn't exist on the internet today and might even help the economy our beloved Baby Boomer parents nearly destroyed. We Millennials have been given a very hard task to accomplish, but at least we now have the technology to make it happen.

And I would never trade the liberty to build something new for a little room on safe forums.
I simply wouldn't use it. O_o

yes, your concept art is exactly how i'm imagining this! As for the features we have atm, we have next to none :x Locking and choosing what rank can view/post on a thread are very helpful imo, but if we had to sacrifice those to make this possible, I wouldn't mind at all.

I'm not saying you can't have an off-site pesc. This is basically moving the private clan forums to somewhere more visible, and giving them up-to-date features :)

eek don't call me Pesc <.< Friends call me Pes :P

The only way I could think of this ever happening would be if Jagex figured out a way to interface the existing Clan Forums with the RS Community Forums. Keep in mind Clans can change their language on Citadel which means that it's going to be a QA nightmare to test this thing even if they make the Clan Forum available only via the English Forums.

And the thing is... I would rather have Jagex work on something I would use. I really don't want them wasting their time on this. There are only so many people in the RS Community that actually use these rs official forums. Most people talk among themselves via Reddit, Twitter and Discord from what I've seen .

The little Clans with 5-30 or so active members often die or go inactive.
The massive Clans with 1000+ active members would never use this.
And the Clans in the middle with 50-500 active members might only maybe use this.

Is it possible? Yes.

Do I want the website team working on this? Absolutely no. They're already working on so many different projects to enhance the overall user experience of this site that they haven't had time to even fix the known issues we've had since 2011 with the Clans Forums.

And I may be sounding harsh, but we have to prioritize.

Add it to the list of suggestions to work on in the future? Sure.

But by no means would I support development of this in the next 3 years without Jagex expanding their website development team.

I agree with Pes, it seems to be way too much effort to create and only few clans benefit from it. I'd never use it, none of the clans I'm in/have been in would even consider using it either. Most players just don't use the RS forums and a clan forum won't change that. I'd rather see an auto-login option for the RSOF so people don't have to go through the nuisance to log in each time.
