You make fair points, It's probably just up to personal taste and my inability to 'bond', for lack of a better word, to the BE leaders.

Ill semi-rescind my suggestion for Mod Cuppa to wait for a sale/ updates for now :P

I wouldn't mind some mod (or dlc released by them) where you got to carry on your save file from Civ 5 to Beyond Earth, utilising a unique version of Civ 5's nations in BE. Kind of similar to how Paradox convert save files from Crusader Kings 2 to Europa Universalis 4, if you've played that. That would also reward those who have both games :P (probably most people who bought BE have Civ 5 anyway :P ).

That's actually a fair point. I guess we just like thinking a few steps ahead which is what draws us to strategy games and allows us to run our clans =P

On this note, clan wars needs a strategy view (i.e. red / blue dots on a map showing the different teams) for Strategists to manage wars :P

I would definitely recommend waiting for a sale because it does feel like civ 5 with a new skin in many aspects, but if the opportunity comes you should snatch it up immediately. Some DLC would be nice as well and I would kill for the ability to convert my Civ 5 games to BE.

Clan wars with a strategy view... You think Mod Maz would hate us if we suggested it in Runelabs? However I can't help but think a strategy view would be wasted on clan wars as it is. It seems more suited for a turn based game where-as RS is real time.
Now if there were different objectives and positions within the clan wars map that gave buffs and debuffs to allied and opponent players alike when held by your team, THEN perhaps a strategy view would be more viable.

Like a hill top would have an area effect around it, if the opponent (or perhaps all players) enters the area of effect their run would deplete more quickly. A ruined building would provide some some extra defense against magic and ranged attacks, but perhaps lower melee defense. A swamp or woods would disable run completely.
A strategy view would be extremely useful when managing a war then.

I can't actually imagine that would be too difficult to do as there would be no graphical changes necessary, just coding the buffs for certain areas. Hmm...

Yeah, It wasn't a serious suggestion, but your ideas are good :P

Perhaps a map with multiple locations that need to be held for bonuses? With a main keep to defend for re-spawn. Similar perhaps to soul wars, but with 4-6 middle areas (providing buffs to the teams that hold them).

Atleast that way, the strategy view would be useful to help try to direct more people to areas which are being attacked more. Perhaps also with a fog of war? :P If your side holds key areas, your strategist can see more? :P

We need this lol :D .

Edit: maybe also incorporating skilling, for building defences and catching/ cooking food for those skillers in clans :P

Okay I've got it!

In addition to the buffs above we add your fog of war idea. However instead of the more areas you hold the more you can see, the fog is dictated by the terrain of the map! Forests, hills, and ruins all produce a fog of war behind them that can only be pierced by going around to the other side or climbing to the top (in the case of hills). That way you would have to move your strategist to a key location (like a hill top) in order to maximize his effect.

That could be for the plain clan wars maps. We could also the extra mile and add objectives (like your soul wars idea) to the clan battlefields. That way we can design our own maps. We could also make it so that spawns have a mechanic where if enough enemy players reach it within a certain amount of time they win the game regardless.

I like that idea, would also put the strategist into more harm, I guess if each clan had one strategist (or leader) each, planning the moves etcetera... then the other team could try to kill him/ her to limit the clans sight/ capabilities, until he/ she could return to a suitable area to plan again.

edit: anyway, I have to sleep now... but interesting conversation :P Hopefully Jagex are taking notes hehe :P

Im guessing Maz & co. won't be too happy with that statement lol. Although I'm sure they can just copy & paste code :P
