I agree. The social aspect is what I play for. Sadly these days I find it harder and harder to like this era of runescape's player base. My long time friends are slowly dwindling away.
I think the downfall of the game was when the expression "no xp waste" became common place. People's mindset was switched from playing a game for fun, to feeling like they had to play a certain way, and most embraced that, and it has carried through to every aspect of the game since.
So there is a divide. The elite in the game are always going to push for harder better more high end content. Then the rest of us are left with out hands in our pockets because we can't compete. So what does jagex do? They make the game easier to compensate. And we don't want that either.
