Consider this thread a hopeful productive sequel to the "This Forum Should End" thread, because I think some great points were made on that thread that I'd hate to see lost in the the less-productive commentary.

Many noted that they love using this Forum and would like to see more activity on it, alongside Clan Leader Discord (CLD). I personally would love to as well - because I believe both of these channels can serve their own unique purpose in a way that the other can't.

But, I also strongly believe that if you want to maximize activity on both, then you have to minimize redundancies. Which begs the question - what do you want for each channel? What types of activity goes on one or the other?

I was in a similar situation with my clan's channels - we were having activity issues between using Discord, our RS thread, and our offsite and it wasn't until we clearly drew up the parameters that we resolved the issue. Our Discord became our main channel for day-to-day outside of RS communication, the RS thread housed our operational items like event reports and is used to recruit, and our offsite became more of a clan museum - housing our screenshots, videos, and history.

If you want to see both Forums and Discord used, then I'd suggest giving both a set type of activity inflow, especially for the Forums. I believe this is the predominant reason the Forums are lacking activity currently, because much of what could go here flows to CLD instead. Which is fine, except for if it would be better suited to remain on here.

I'd also keep in mind that Discord has a tendency to want to take over every function because it's capable of doing so, even though it may not be the best medium to get it done. For example, consider how many ideas and suggestions we currently post in Discord that likely get lost in the volume, with no clear prioritization or push to see them actually realized.

This is just an idea, but you get what I mean.

At the end of the day though, I believe this is something we can fix and address on our own – regardless of a RS Forum update (although it would be nice) and regardless of Discord. If we want the Forums to be more utilized, then it’s up to us to define what we want from it and up to us to follow-through and commit to keeping its purpose relevant.

Great question, Shikimoko4!

I want the CLF to be an adequate source to stay informed about clan related news without the need to use third party sites. Having the opportunity to give input is also important.

Real time discussion is a strength of Discord, but there is a lot of superfluous commentary to sort through at times. And (unless you check in frequently on Discord), it's easy to become overwhelmed by many unread comments and miss discussions of interest. The forum is easier to follow, catch up on and give feedback without being plugged in constantly.

TLDR: Post current news regarding clans on CLF to encourage feedback/discussion. Info provided here should be kept current and relevant so it keeps us informed without the need to visit third party sites unless we choose to do so.

I agree with Esploratore, the CLD and Runescape discord gets overwhelming at times to look through. I know when in doubt if anything for clans is officially being released or worked on it will be in here so I can just come in here to look at the summary of it all.

I think CLD should stick around for the live action conversation and brainstorming back and forth, I feel that makes it easier for all involved and then the forums should be where the official announcement is made.

While I do agree with some in the last thread that a RS ran Discord for CLF would probably be better suited I get why it is not due to the volume of work it takes to do.

But basically what I want CLF to remain is the official announcement and information on all things clan related and CLD to remain the real time discussion on things. |

I want CLF to be seen and taken as seriously as CLD. Those who are in the clan leader discord should not receive more benefit than those in here.

I want the Flag A Concern and Moderation Escalation threads to be checked REGULARLY.
Its been over a year since either of them have been replied to.
That is RIDICULOUS.

I want clan content that gives clans an edge over friend chats (aside from citadel they offer the same benefits) content will make clans meaningful again since Clan Wars is dead.

I want us to stop being handed scraps and expect to be eternally grateful.

Every time I make a post talking about something I dislike and Shauny replies (check my threads) he always conveniently skips over the parts about completely ignoring the moderation threads


I also want Shauny to become the owner of the CLD and the current ownership just to become regular volunteer staff that way in the end a clan leader does not have power to keep another clan owner out of the discord. Shauny would have the final say.

When I play Fortnite I'd rather duo with a good friend than with a random stranger, because half of the time strangers suck. Clans already have the advantage that you know your clanmembers and can cooperate more easily with them. But other than that, I don't think clans should have game benefits over anyone else because that's not what clans are about. Clans can become meaningful again if there's more content where it's an advantage to have more people and a better organization. Which was the case when clan wars and the Wilderness were active. There were quite some warring clans in the past nobody could really compete with because their organization, quality, and amount of effort their members would put in could not be matched by random teams.

Firstly let me say before I continue, that I am grateful for all the hard work Shauny puts into improving Clans and their management. I am sure leaders use some if not all of the improvements.

It shocks me to see a lot of the drama on any thread that challenges discord vs Forums. This isn't targeted at one person but certainly a group that make the rest of us look bad.

If I was Shauny I would not feel appreciated. I have also seen that the scrapping of the bank rework has fallen at his feet to explain away. I begin to wonder what positive things he has in his job right now?

I agree Discord seems to be the main place where updates are discussed and at times voted on. However I would like to see it also on here.

We all want our Clans to succeed and running a clan is becoming harder to keep things active. We do well as a Clan and maintain our Community. So many Clans slip into inactivity it saddens me to see. We should be supporting each other not back stabbing and putting each other down.

It would be wonderful to see a J Mod who checks these forums and who spends time updating things, but sadly we all know this isn't what is going to happen. This isn't Shaunys fault, this is the fault of whoever delegates the roles.

The question is what do we want to see?

I personally would like to see more leaders getting involved in these foums and stop the infighting. No one is better than anyone else, we all run Clans to the best of our ability.
We need to involve more Leaders and remove the fear of being flamed with every post that added.

I hope we see more improvements to encourage people to join a clan. my fave by far is the Citadel one. We make it an event to all cap together, more updates like this would be great.

The future of RS3 has to involve Clans as a large percentage of players that only play because of the clan they are in.

Please lets stop the infighting and bickering and work as a group.
