Due to the age of my clan (we excited pre clan chats on whats now rs3) for old school we reverted back to our original rank structure..which did not recognize additional ranks above general. General rank itself for us is reserved for Admins and the keyholder (me as i run the clan account for our osrs branch), however we have 2 non admin generals which help support Admins as some of us are limited rs wise due to work. For us this has been working since the release of OSRS itself.
as for RS3 clannies, we allow them to join the OSRS cc and hold rank, due to the difference in memberbase for both divisions, should an rs3 clannie join osrs branch they must "earn" the rank in the osrs cc like a normal osrs clannie would on the osrs side. We did this due to fairness in both clans as it would have been unfair and cause unbalence on the osrs side if a General joined from rs3 division and got ranked general on OSRS, most however who joined from rs3 are ok with this and joined mainly for the social aspect and didnt care about osrs ranks.

We do have a discord, use to forums but lot of our osrs guys weren't interested in the forums. For this reason we just kept discord as an outside communication outlet.

Runescape3 currently possesses 2x as many ranks as old school, with smaller clans I can see where this would be overwhelming but with clans with large and diverse pools of people to work with, the current rank structure is restricting.
In addition to the ranks old school is missing out on, we also resort to using friends chats that don't automatically log players into the chat every time they log in, because they are not "connected" or designated to the clan they've applied and joined. Although this sort of update may not be for all clans, I think a vast majority would appreciate and take full advantage of it.
