1) Have you ever experienced issues like this?
Yes

2) If yes, how did you handle it? If no, what would you recommend?
We allow long term guests and x clan mates to sit int he cc, after all we are a community.

3) We've considered disabling guesting and sending a kind yet firm message to these guesters asking them to join or leave, do you think this would be wise?
Depends what you want from your clan, we are always considered welcoming and open to people, in the end we find the a large number of them come back in time, as they still feel at home. You have to be a real nuisance to end up on the clan ban list.

1. Yes, many times

2. Case by case basis, we have some regular guests but we strongly encourage them to join and try to minimize "regular guests". Not only is it distracting, but there are genuine issues with the clan broadcast system that will cause too many guests to glitch out the messages of some new guests joining the channel. This is obviously a legitimate problem.

3. After a week or two I will generally pm these guests and offer to invite them. However, sometimes they do not have pm open and won't respond to repeated requests to add me. It happens, don't be afraid to kick unresponsive guests.

Sometimes I will also temporarily disable guesting to "kick" these perpetual guests, but they autojoin the next time they log in so its not actually very effective unless they notice.

Again, bringing up the point that too many guests can glitch out the broadcast system is a perfectly legitimate reason in its own right to limit guests. But ultimately clans have the right to restrict access to pretty much anyone for any reason. Do whats best for your clan.

Edit: With regards to former members leaving then joining out of "loyalty" or whatever. There are only a handful of times that I have personally allowed that. Generally when people choose to leave its no hard feelings, but in my opinion it would be inappropriate to guest after choosing to leave the clan and we make that clear when this situation arises. It has resulted in some hurt feelings, but generally we regard it as the best course of action for our clan.

As a bossing clan we have. People want to guest in our clan chat to learn bosses, and go bossing with us (getting the benefits of our clan) without actually joining

2) If yes, how did you handle it? If no, what would you recommend?

We tell the guests they can no longer guest after a given amount of time. We allow guests to go with us to bosses as a try out for the clan only. A trial of whether or not we are right for them

You have to do what is best for your clan no matter what. These people want to be part of your community without officially being part of your community. It doesnt seem fair to those who actually joined to be part of it.

1) Have you ever experienced issues like this?

When I lead my pvm clan, we experienced it many times but it never really became an issue as the ranks monitored them, we had many perm guests and old clannies who moved on for a variety of reasons

2) If yes, how did you handle it? If no, what would you recommend?

Whenever someone left they would be autobanned for 2 weeks, as a sign that they were no longer part of our community and then if they wanted they would be allowed to be on the outskirts of it. People who haven't and will not join the clan were aloud however these people were treated on an individual basis, for example someone who was in a different pvm clan but had many friends in here and wanted to be able to chat with them easily was able to stay, however someone who was always asking to learn bosses and did not meet the gear reqs was asked to leave and not continue guesting.

3) We've considered disabling guesting and sending a kind yet firm message to these guesters asking them to join or leave, do you think this would be wise?

I think you have to take an individual approach to every person who is doing this and find out why they are a perma guest or a clanmate who has left. For clanmates leaving I will say you need to create some separation at first.
