Just play on a Legacy only world :) EoC combat is terrible for casual PvPers because they don't stand any chance at all. In Legacy the difference between a good and bad PKer are much smaller and since it's a simplification of oldschool combat you don't need much skill, just luck.

Although I think the only rules that count in a minigame are the rules set by Jagex, I also feel combat is too unbalanced for crashers to have a place. I understand you want to solve this short-term, but in the longterm we just need some quality updates to minigames and combat as well. A couple of crashers shouldn't be able to have as much impact as they can have now.

Soul wars has always had a reputation for spawn killing since it came out. First started pre eoc with ancient spells. My advice is fight back with their weakness. One of the fact is players who enjoy pking wont stop when told to. Although you can be a good sport and give them good competition.

Most people will understand that and face the challange. This way both you and them will enjoy the minigame. After all soul wars is a pking minigame.

Best way to combat it is play their play and they will have more respect for you. Hope this helps.

Yeah i think its fight back or be walked over

I guess I'm just going to have to sit down and read through some PVP guides

Thanks everyone for their response!

the hard bit is timing your abilities. Like in long duration battles with prayer, food and ovl you will need to switch off the persons prayer then smash them with highest dps thresholds to wipe them out so they don't deplete your food

Hello Chunks,

I have a lot of experience regarding these types of things from when I was running Gop Addict, so maybe a bit of advice from me may help as we had to deal with crashers constantly, every day for the last 8 years.

1) Concerning mini-games - some have private pens (SC is one that springs to mind), so you can guarantee that only you guys will be playing, so use those to your advantage to prevent crashers.

2) Concerning regulars, you can use someone's friends chat and make it lockable to only friends. Make a clan event specific person for this purpose - this char p/w is allowed to be shared between people (i.e. your event co-ordinators) as long as you only login and use it to add people to the chat, or ignore list and gain no xp on it (this has been verified by a JMOD in the past)

3) As has been suggested already by Sicariu and the most important thing is keeping that status to off when doing events, and use the FC to advertise where and when the event will be held (with a 12 char limit, you can advertise the world and time easily e.g. W56 0900 OTC) - with the amount of member worlds available, it makes it easier to qhop in case someone does find you guys and crash you (unlike with us, where we use nonmember worlds so we were restricted) - use your FC to announce the world change, do not use the public chat at all to do so.

4) Set up some regulations regarding crashing - what do you define as crashing? what happens if someone does something, but it was accidental? How many 'accidents' does it take for a ban? What is the policy in case someone who has crashed in the past has decided to redeem themselves and wants to play with you guys again? (probationary period?)

Also, take up an opportunity to do events with some of the minigame FC's that exist already - they will have rules concerning how they want to run the games, but they will have fantastic advice for you and anti-crashers already available if something goes wrong.

Cheerio
This character has been poor since his creation in June 2005.

Thank you for the in depth reply Fail grammar i appreciate your input

we have changed the date and time of the event and kept the information off our offsite and in game noticeboards

we have also done as you have suggested and we have set up and account for a FC for events, this should minimize the issue with people stating in public chat where they are going

our clan members are under strict orders to keep their public off and any suspicious guests have been booted for our CC (we just hope they are not potential recruits)

We defiantly have set guidelines on crashing, we allow anyone to join in the game as long as they play to our rules and don't be rude in our cc however when we get deliberate spawn killers who continue even when asked not to we ask them not to rejoin in the event, its a hard one as we are open to have all types of members join in with our community but perhaps for competitive Mini games we may need to keep it to trusted guests and Clan members only to avoid this type of problem in the future

Thank you again for your input :)

Just an update on the situation as our event was scheduled for yesterday normally but we had actually done it on Monday

We decided to have a little fun with this group of trolls

We entered the Soul Wars lobby at 9pm and stated the event was going ahead as normal at 10pm, but as soon as we entered the lobby we were greeted by about 10 fully kitted up members of this clan and they spouted the usual "are you guys scared, you are gonna get rekked" blah blah

We then gathered a few members at 10pm at the edge lode stone to make it look authentic

The trolls had a rather obvious spy standing next to a building to listen into us, we then pretended to hop worlds and they followed and we also went into soul was waited for them to pile in then we all logged out immediately

We then stated we were doing it at 11pm instead and it took this 10 people until about 11:30pm to realize we were messing with them

They all entered our clan chat at about 1030pm saying how proud they were of ruining our event and we shouldn’t mess with them and that was us told!

As you can imagine the clan had a lot of fun with the guys pretending to not know they were guesting in our cc and stating later and later times to do soul wars

I actually think we could have kept it going for longer but real life commitments like sleep got in the way

They then admitted they had been waiting for us since 6pm game time

But being totally honest, apart from it being pathetic that these trolls set aside 5 and a half hours of their day to try ruin our event, I have never had so much fun messing with someone

Of course all our clan members who participated where given points for attending the event, so it was a fun night all round

I might make this a regular thing; they don’t seem bright enough to pick up on the fact that they are not actually harming our event

Some bad things do end well: D

Glad you were able to turn a negative situation into a positive, fun experience for you and your clanmates. It's really a shame there are groups out there like this, but that's a part of life. People enjoy conflict. Hope things get better for you. Definitely keep trying to use the tips given here from other players. Eventually those trolls will go away. :)
