Not my clan so much, but definitely my Discord server....
We tend to keep a closer eye on new joiners and hold them to the rules somewhat more stringently than established regulars. With the regular people, we know what to expect, they know what's allowed and what isn't, and when stop before things go "too far." The same can't always be said for new joiners, so we do keep watch a bit to make sure they're chill -
especially
if they join with a ton of other people all at once.
I guess at the end of the day, it comes down to (mutual) respect. If people can by nice to each-other and respect the rules, there's never going to be a problem. If they can't or won't, they typically do not last very long.
Also, this phrase that's come up a few times with our leading team....
"If we feel like we need to babysit someone all the time, then they probably shouldn't be here."
