Today I am finally able to get back into the game. I'd like to mention some of the ways this lock-out affected clan leadership. Our clan is small, and thankfully my deputy was not locked out. Other overseers were. Only my deputy was available to issue invites.
With overseers gone, he was the only one who could "kick" if need be. Clan chat was impossible to monitor with overseers locked out. Deputy could ban, mute, etc., but again, he is only one person & has limited time. Sergeants have permission to mute, but they have never done so & probably didn't realize they could. Clan chat is usually not a problem, but once in a great while there is someone who starts a little drama.
Being locked out, I could not adjust clan settings so that others would temporarily have permission for various functions.
Our citadel survived intact, but I was worried. Our clan has no req's for cit visits or resource gathering because there are always more than enough ppl to maintain it. However, I was worried that so many ppl would be locked out that there wouldn't be enough visitors each week for upkeep.
I was also locked out of forums. I did not have access to CLF, and I couldn't post on my clan's page or respond to inquiries on the recruitment thread.
Our clan would have really suffered if the deputy had also been locked out, & there was no way I could promote someone else to that position. We were able to communicate on our clan's website.
I think Jagex has completely ignored how this situation affected clans & functions. There was never any mention in all of the news updates about the impact on clans, leadership, or possible temporary remedies. Restorations did not mention a possible cit downgrade.
I've read that some of you have alts. If I had tried to pm you with my alt, would you have believed it was really me? Should we maintain a list on here somewhere of leader's alts?
Does anyone have suggestions on how to be better prepared it this happens again?
