This month I have the honour and privilege to announce that the Clan Council has unanimously decided to name Kharlisle as our clan member of the month for May 2016.
Kharlisle passed away on 1 April 2016 and would have refused the award if it had been offered to him.
Kharlisle was a founder member of both our fc and our clan, having been a Captain in Assist Clan for several years. As far as I know, he was the longest serving member of both and was still active until a few days before his passing.
Kharlisle was also scrupulously fair in every way.
Kharlisle spent a lot of time in both the fc and the cc, not necessarily talking a lot but being there to help anyone who needed it. He was never someone who sought attention or prestige for himself.
Kharlisle was also always willing to share in a joke and he was particularly fond of puns, and of course, BEER!
Kharlisle used to log in for a few minutes before going to work in the morning and then join the chat later on after returning from work – I still half expect to see a cheerful post from him about having a cuppa, a beer or feeding the birds or taking the dog for a walk.
The award of Member of the Month hardly does any justice to Kharlisle’s legacy, but the Dog’s Trust donation is some recognition of his amazing contribution to the clan and to all our lives.
I wish that I had been able to visit London and to meet both Chrissie and Kharlisle in person. When I saw the picture of Kharlisle in Val**r’s post, I discovered that Kharlisle looked exactly like I perceived him – friendly, kindly, humble and dependable.
This post can never do justice to Kharlisle, friend and mentor to all in the clan. We will continue to miss you.
