So I am doing my farming routine and the sky turns red and issues the Zamorak warning......I go gear up and prepare for the message indicating "Demons are attacking (city)" but that message never arrives......can anyone tell me how much time elapses between the warning and the invasion and how I locate the fighting?

That speech by Zamorak wasn't linked to the demon invasion. It's a little prelude to the elite dungeon coming in a couple of weeks.

Invasions occur every 60 minutes or so in one of six locations - Falador, Burthorpe, Ardougne, Yanille, Lumbridge and Varrock.

Regarding the message, I don't know. I've never got one, even when I've been standing a few squares away when a portal opens.

The location that the portal appears will always cycle in this order:
- North of the Falador Lodestone
- The stone circle in Taverley
- The Tower of Life near Ardougne
- The east gate of Yanille
- The east gate of Varrock
- North of Lumbridge

So if you know when and where the last portal appeared, you can work out where the next one will appear.
