Right out the gate I want to say I’m not a fan of the way overrides work and don’t use them much if at all. Something tells me that’s an unpopular opinion . In fact, if I were Jagex, I’d hate players like me who aren’t appealed to the lure of Solomon’s store and therefore do not utilize that MTX.

I am totally with you there. I dislike cosmetic overrides of any kind, and they don't belong in a game like this. RuneScape is not a sims game. Our looks should be determined by whatever gear we are wearing.

The problem is: subscription-based revenue can only earn as much income as there are accounts. But MTX can earn a lot more. Especially with things like prismatic dyes and keepsake keys that hypothetically have infinite re-purchase value.

I don't know the exact amounts to say whether they currently make more from MTX or from subscriptions. But I think it's quite obvious that the MTX income model scales way, way better than subscriptions purely.

Um...says who? Role playing games are notorious for character customization. In what possible way do you argue that adding more cosmetic options doesn't belong in this game? I completely disagree.

I have no issue with the look of the achievement gear. I think it's adequately attractive considering the relatively low bar to obtain it.

T70 hybrid tank is all I could expect and even then it honestly still feels a bit more than the set deserves.

I disagree about it being "
low bar
"

T85 hybrid power armour admittedly might be a stretch,

But, consider these options.

The 4 war priest armour sets and the armour of trial set, which can both be set to lvl 75 hybrid tank armour, meaning at the highest grade they possess higher stats than tier 4 achievement gear armour at present, but are extremely easy to obtain by comparison.

A whole set of war priest armour can be collected from farming the relevant faction trash mobs in GWD 1. Not the bosses the trash mobs. That’s really “
low bar

Armour of trial set can be obtained by accumulating a mere 125 qp . That’s also “
low bar
” IMO

There is nothing wrong with the way those armours are obtained I think their function compliments the effort needed to obtain them. But compared to the effort needed to put in for the full set of achievement armour, especially tier 4, those reqs for the tier 75 hybrid armour don’t come close IMO.

If I just take one part of the tier 4 task set to a draw a comparison, lets use tier 4 Karamja gloves as the example. Two out of the 8 tasks needed to get the Tier 4 gloves “ The power of lava ” and “ Boxing clever ” require you to have minimum of 95 summoning (un-boostable btw) and at least have a fire cape. IMHO from the effort needed to execute those task requirements alone, it’s already out tiered the aforementioned lvl 75 hybrid gear in the hand slot.

The level 85 hybrid armour power attribute, ok sure debatable, even if you’re only getting 1/3rd of the strength bonus from each style. And at 65 def stats it would sit alongside GWD1 armour sets. That’s not so farfetched imo. There was a time where that was considered quite high gear stats, but today those stats serve as an elementary threshold to high level gear. I still believe tier 4 achievement armour should be placed at least a tier higher (say lvl 80 hybrid).
There is just a compelling difference in difficulty level, number of quests, and most importantly time, to obtain achievement armour compared to some of the lvl75 hybrid armour in the game.

Another suggestion would be either to make tier 4 task set equal to lvl 75 tank hybrid but make it function like a better version of superior elite void knight armour in combat.
I see more potential for this set I really do.

Overall It’s gear that has to be achieved through a collection of skilling and combat feats, I’d expect it to at least have some combat stats that are worthy of “Achieving”.

You ranted a lot about disliking cosmetics. IMO it was just a big distraction from your main point. If you wanted to rant about disliking cosmetics, you should do that somewhere else.

That’s fair. Sure there was context before the topic, me explaining some discrepancies I have with cosmetics. But all relevant to the visual improvement I am suggesting IMO.

Firstly I point out, that I personally I don't use cosmetic overrides, there do not consider them as a solution to improving the look of my core gear. So from the outset this hopefully eliminates the prospect of someone suggesting I use overrides. E.g. 'If you like Task/achievement gear and want to wear it while engaging in challenging combat situations then just apply/request a tier 4 task set override to existing combat gear . Or indeed, suggest I just apply an override on the task set itself to "improve" it's appearance.

FYI not interested.

Secondly I drew a comparison. The connection is that JAGEX through the evidence in the amount and quality, to a certain degree, of their override costumes (whether they be weapons or clothing), prove they have the time and resources to expend some of that effort to visualy improve outdated core gear. And that I'm puzzled why this isn't the case. I therefore, nominate some parts of the achievement gear as an example.
