Disable the ring of trees at the following locations: Varrock grand exchange and Lumbridge market. But only in populated worlds like worlds with 500 or above people.

Under 500 people in varrock ge/lumby market players can transform into trees. Above, you'll get the following message:

"My Grand Exchange is for peaceful trading. Go play with your ring somewhere else!" -Brugsen Bursen and for the market:

"Duke Horacio does not permit use of this magical ring in his town's market."

As ring of coins is a 1 square transform, it isn't affected by this change. Or we could make ring of trees turn you into a 1 square sapling.

Thoughts?

There would likely be problems with conditional disabling of the item within the area such as difficulty gauging when the limit is passed but the idea of disabling ring of trees in those places isn't inherently and issue. It's perfectly in line with what's been done to prevent flower and canon griefing.

To claim that it's just about dislike or that there's no point is just misrepresenting the issue. Relatively small, single tile cosmetics just don't have the effect large/multi tile ones have in terms of disruptiveness. This isn't just people complaining about someone else's cosmetic choices, this is about people actively getting griefed and their experience being worsened by the actions of another player.

^Yet isnt that to be expected in a online MMO?

I mean why would you think this wouldnt happen when everyone who has access to the net can do this?

Plus it still doesnt answer the fact that ppl are indeed doing this just because they dislike it.

Well i dislike players on my screen yet i have to deal with it.

So all these players just need to grow thicker skin.

I already told you that people being able to grief isn't an excuse to ignoring the problem. Fixing griefing methods does make a difference the same way addressing botting problems does as well. You wouldn't go around saying bots shouldn't be dealt with at all just because more can be made now would you?

Taking issue with griefers actively antagonizing players and obstructing their ability to do something in an area they should be able to do it in isn't just a matter of dislike or personal preference. That's both reductive and a blatant misrepresentation of the issue. I'm pretty sure I've already corrected you on this very thing in past discussions on the topic.

It's fine to want a minimally restrictive method of addressing the problem and I've mentioned a few in the past but outright ignoring that it's a problem affecting other players and brushing them off like that just isn't productive. So long as it remains a problem, people will bring it up. Telling them it's not a problem just builds resentment and obstructs discussion of actual solutions.

I do understand that ppl annoying others is a pain but its something ppl need to deal with.

I mean ppl can find countless number of ways to "grief" ppl so at some point if we just continue to "disable" things ppl wont be able to use anything for any reason as ppl will just find ways to complain about anything.

So in the end, ppl just need to deal with the fact that trolls and griefers will always exist on the net and its not something that just "hiding" or "disabling" can fix.

You kinda missed the point of what I said. They finally got around to fixing a similar griefing issue over in Anachronia and generally deal with canon griefing. They also did some things like limit pets/familiars in certain crowded areas as well as limit player rendering in high populations for performance reasons. There's no excuse to ignore the GE problem and rampant abuse of the ring of trees.

This can either be done by changing portables to move them to a more suitable area they can't be griefed in or by setting some kind of range limit that prevents people from using the ring of trees to obstruct the visibility of portables while still allowing them to use it at a reasonable distance. These are both actual solutions that address the issue without outright banning the ring or trees form the entire GE. Like I said before, ignoring the problem isn't actually productive. In the interest of having an actual discussion, best to let people actually talk about options rather than constantly shutting everything down before the discussion can even begin.

Yes and it seems like you dont understand what im trying to say.

Lets say this does happen, ppl will just use either one of the other morph rings or something else that hasnt been "banned" and use them to still grief.

So all you're doing is setting a bad president that doesnt need to be continued.

All this "banning" of items just because ppl get upset over them is dumb and unneeded.
