Okay, this is something that has been bothering me for years, honestly since back during Darkscape. How the distribution of combat XP is done in this game. Currently enemies are given a seemingly random xp drop that has no relation to their amount of hp, level or even difficulty in defeating. Pre-eoc, it used to be you got xp based on how much damage you dealt, and in the case of magic, by simply casting the spell itself, leading to people splashing spells or teleporting over and over to train it if they could afford it sometimes.
So I'm proposing a somewhat drastic change to fix that. It may seem a bit late considering EoC has been out for 10 years, but in my opinion, it is never too late to fix what constitutes a very real problem in this game.
The idea is fairly simple, have the xp be given based on ability used. Abilities would have a base xp drop simply for using, and it would scale to a certain extent depending on how much damage is dealt. if balanced right, it would drastically lower how much xp we get from standard kills. Now to finish it off, we would also have to make it so that enemies don't automatically regain full health on exiting combat. Or at least make it so that there is a much larger window between exiting combat and hp resetting.

To be honest it has bugged me since the release of EoC that you can't do a battle of attrition on enemies any longer, where if you don't have the levels to clear it, you just go hide, regen your health, then go back out and attack it again slowly wearing down it's health over time. I don't encounter much of that at my level anymore, but I really liked doing that as a noob way back when. It made it feel a lot more like a real battle when my enemies weren't automatically coming right back to full health, they took time like I did. Pre-eoc you actually had a chance of getting a kill in a crowded dungeon, now somebody drops a cannon and sips an aggression pot and all the mobs there are theirs automatically. Would love to see that reversed. Earnestly I'd just like to see adrenaline potions removed as well, and instead make standard mobs aggressive on the regular, but I doubt that will happen.
I know this change won't do much for the maxed players, but it will slow down on the whole "force people through the early and mid-game as fast as possible" thing we have now. Because right now, early and midgame sucks simply because you get leveled so fast that Jagex has no reason to do anything to fix it.
