Oh wow I did not know FSW accounts will merge with current RS3 servers. That is concerning

Not concerning in RS3 FSW at all, as unlike OSRS FSW, players in both version of RS3 aren't allowed to swap gp.

Besides, FSW players in RS3 aren't getting the Yak Coins and cosmetics the main game players are getting. That's why plenty of FSW players have already moved to the main game since the start of Yak Track.

Thats been known since the start though.

Exactly. We knew exactly how RS3 FSW would be before its day 1. We know economies of FSW and the main game RS3 will be totally independent as gp swapping between RS3 and RS3 FSW is prohibited. We know we will be making far less gp in FSW while we will be gaining xp faster. We know in FSW we will be getting some new cosmetics but the tradeoff is we won't be getting some cosmetics in the main game RS3 like the Yak Track ones.

In a nutshell, we know there won't be any economics impact when FSW merges back to the main game RS3 from the start. FSW is a great trade off of slower gp rewards in return for faster xp progression for new and returning players.

I miss the old holiday events too. We could've had some cool expansion of the land of snow and other seasons as permanent areas that receive holiday themed content. That way we'd get more lore and be able to spend more time with longtime holiday characters like the easter bunny, Santa and the queen of snow. Anyone remember the queen of spring? We used to get stuff like visiting Death's house and citadel, hunting ghosts for Diango, snowball fights with evil snowmen, turning into a rabbit etc. We also had a recurring snow imp companion of variable name that would greet us as an old friend if we'd met him in previous years. That was great. Now the ice amulet no longer has the ability to summon him and we never get to see him. The squirrel minions were also nice to have around and could've been recurring characters too.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the old holiday events could legitimately be retooled as permanent quests if they felt like putting in the work for it. Stuff like adopting a stray dog for Gertrude, easter bunny junior taking over the holiday while his dad retires and that family drama with Jack Frost would all make good plots to revisit.

The halloween event at least tries to have miniquest events but they're just there to unlock and boost the grindfest so they'll eventually stop adding more even if they recycle the same event. The easter one had the gall to introduce a TH promo character joking about the easter bunny being MIA for multiple years and the christmas event is just the one where you grind for RNG to get some rare item to clog up your bank with

Controversial opinion:

FOMO in RuneScape is really a reflection of someone's feelings of self-entitlement.

Not controversial at all as nothing is exclusive to this event. It is OP's misunderstanding about the availability of the prizes that cause the non-existing "fear" of missing out nothing.

That's actually an interesting take.

I've always considered the FOMO crowd to be overly concerned about not appearing cool to their peers if they weren't wearing the latest gear, or weren't displaying the newest pet, and so on. It could well be some of these players do feel entitled to "the latest and greatest" simply because others have it.

Thankfully, I am not afflicted with FOMO, so I'm just guessing here. I decided long ago that I don't need all the pixels.

Not everything is about GP.

The players I have spoken to about the matter didn't even mention the economic factor. They are more upset about being driven down the HiScores by the influx of FSW accounts that were "maxed" in a matter of weeks, if not days.
