I had friends to teach me how to play, so I didn't have any totally clueless noob experiences.
However, to me, getting enough prayer to enter the monastery was crazy. 31 prayer? Far too expensive. I never trained the skill until years later, when Soul Wars was released. I don't even go to the monastery now.
Also, l joked with my friends how 1 million gp was an incalculable sum. We joked that if any of us made that much we would spend it all on buckets.
If I manage to think of anything else, I'll post it.

When I was a noob, I didn't know where Falador was. My hair got glitched by the tiara(I'm sure you're familiar with that one) and I didn't know where to change my hair.
I was wandering around Varrock(yup, made it there ALL BY MYSELF :D ) asking "Where's Falador? Can you take me there?" :s.
Arrr! Only th' Devil an' I know th' where'bouts o' me treasure, an' th' one o' us who lives th' longes' should take i' all.

W.I.W.A.N....
- I trawled general stores, buying junk for nothing and selling them back elsewhere for next for nothing
- I often enjoyed putting on full black armour and hanging out with the Black Knights (since a player in full black would look similar to a Black Knight)
- I would make my char look like a barbarian or guard and walk about RuneScape, just to elicit LOLs from others. Back then, these NPC* would sometimes resemble players who put the right pieces of clothing/equipment on, ie for a barbarian you just needed a steel med, a steel axe and a leather body.
@Foble**, spending 1 mil on buckets is not a bad biz deal if you can return them back to Ge with something inside.

When i was a noob...
I spent 15 minutes(i dint know how to type) typing in "Can somebody take me to the wizards tower... while i was in draynor village...
Whenever i died i wouldn't play for 2 weeks because i thought that I lost exp
i thought highwaymen were real players randomly attacking me and saying "stand and deliver" over and over again
the lunch lady appeared and i got the questions wrong.. so she teleported me to the ice mountain not knowing where i was until i wandered over to barbarian village, attacked one of the barbarians, and died whining that i lost my full bronze armour
I thought that i could make 10k off of an inv full of bronze fulls...
i thought the evil chiken was a regular chiken and yet again died... and i got stuck in karanmja because i didn't bring spare coins.

@ St. Scordalie: I admit that would multiply money by many times, but if I had the time to fill up one million buckets with milk... (there's not much a non-member can do with buckets).
And this was back before the Grand Exchange, mind you. I took time to sell common items like steel bars. Ugh.

This is a great thread, but makes me feel REALLY old.
When I was a noob there was no bank. When one was added to hold your money it was the coolest thing ever... until it could hold items.
When I was a noob there were no server choices. You were either on or not. I think the max people on at a time was 100. (not sure on that part anymore)
When I was a noob Rune armor and weapons didn't exist.
When I was a noob Goblin diplomacy took days to do because Betty was always busy talking to someone else.
When I was a noob magic and arrows looked like * .
When I was a noob Bluerose was amazing because 99 smithing was unheard of except for her.
When I was a noob there was no tutorial and you had to choose a class that determined your starting equipment and levels. I choose miner and stated with a pick and level 5 mining.
