Pretty good stuff from Within Temptation. I prefer their songs All I Need, Bittersweet, See Who I Am, and Somewhere. I'd easily give them 7/10 for The Howling. It might have been an 8, but there are scorpions in their video for this tune - and. I. HATE. scorps!
*ahem* Ok, moving right along...
Given the wide array of artists Within Temptation has worked with, I think it would be fair to refer to them as "serial collaborators". This term would also apply to musician/producer Danger Mouse, who joined forces with Shins front man James Mercer to form the band Broken Bells. Their self-titled debut album came out in early 2010. The final track on this amazing work is called "The Mall & Misery". Go and listen to that song now. You can thank me later.

Sorry, but I have a low tolerance for "singers" who do nothing but growl. 2/10 at best, and that's
purely
for the instrument work. They can play...but who the hell wants to listen to guttural noises that sound like a constipated wookiee?
By contrast, Canadian musician Danko Jones(and his band of the same name)can rock hard with the best of them while belting out cleverly-crafted lyrics which can be understood.
You may like their song "I Believed In God". It's not Melodic Death Metal, but it still might appeal to you. "I Think Bad Thoughts", "Sleep Is The Enemy", and "Sugar High" are three others I can recommend, however pretty much anything by Danko Jones owns.
