Just a heads up,

I will be rearranging the framework of this thread over the past few days. A few ideas that I have had for this thread...

1) A panel of judges for this thread. This would consist of 3 or 4 players who will judge all of the drawings at the end of the competition. I'd love to do this, but I'm not sure if it would be possible (it all depends on how many people participate with this thread really).

2) A point system and hi scores table for this thread. Players who earn first place in a competition would earn 10 points, second place would earn 7 points, and third would earn 5 points. Players that participated and earned an average rating of 5 or higher will earn 2 points. Players that participated but did not earn an average rating of 5 or higher would earn 1 point.

3) Also, I do want to hold a gallery on this thread and future editions of this thread that would display past winners. So, obviously I would need everyone who participates - I would need their permission to repost their images. I don't know if anyone would have a problem with this. If for some reason you do have a problem with this, let me know.

I think all of these ideas would be neat, but this is kind of a community owned thread so I obviously want to hear how others feel about this.

Those changes are great ideas. I'd like to make a few suggestions:

Scoring: Instead of a panel, allow anybody who visits the forum to rate them. After the competition ends, leave a week (or a few days) for anybody browsing to rate. Have a template with the link to each post and a space for each rating. This ensures all artwork is also rated equally by different people with different ideas. This would also keep the votes all in one place and timeframe.

Variety: There's an innumerable amount of things that can be drawn. I think it would be cool to have some competitions generalised (like how it is now, animals ) and other competitions something more particular (for example, birds). This would encourage finer details and may create a bit more of a competitive feel to it.

The thread itself could also be changed next thread. Perhaps after seeing an approximate number of participants, reserve a page or two to showcase all of the artwork so they can be viewed and scored in a lump rather than having to weave in and out of pages.

Edit: For the gallery of winners, it would be nice to see the top three of the previous thread as well as perhaps a page of all of the winners of each thread; after a lot of threads have gone by it can always be reduced to the latest three, but there should be a list of all the winners located chronologically somewhere.

I was thinking about doing this as well. Maybe that might be a better route to try.

The way I wanted to have this thread set up was so that anyone could host a thread topic, as long as they ask first and say their topic. I mean if someone has a good idea for the next version, I'm more than happy to let them host it. I really want this to be a community thread that anyone could help out with.

Maybe. I think for now linking the images might work best. Even if we start getting a ton of drawings on this thread I think that might be the best way to handle that.

I was thinking maybe after like 10 versions or so I could just make a gallery for this thread series. I really don't know how popular this will be so for now, just placing them on this thread would probably work best.

The thread looks good. I like your idea for the point system, and Parricidal's ideas for rating and for the theme of contests. That was a good point that more specific themes would encourage more detail.

Looking forward to your entry if you end up doing one, Parricidal :P
