"Hey, Glock. Don't recognize you, or most people here. No, I haven't changed my name, haven't actually been a RS member since I left. I just got bored, got creative, and now want to try my hand at doing this again (so long as nobody OP's themselves into a war)."

I only started playing this sort of game type like last december. Well, always nice to see a vet.

lol, "vet" is hardly something that describes me. Sure, I came in around NC7, but I never felt like I did anything. I just want to do something that makes sense logically and has an impact, but I don't want to get destroyed or feel completely useless. I also don't want to be in charge of everything (too much responsibility, not enough think-time).


Anyway, Kivon begins looking into a way to keep the population pacified and supportive over his rule.
New Project: Social Structure!
-Result: Improves Social Services by 6 (up to 10)
-Cost: 6 years.


((i'm probably doing things completely wrong and crippling myself, but I figure all things have their benefits, some just cost more than others.))

Well.

1. Choose 1 medium sized earth land to claim.
2. 1 year of research=1 point, so instead of getting 6 points for your social services project you would get 10 points.
3. There aren't many really old vets left-I can only think of E chip, 123, scorched, teran (really inactive), Porsche and Djinn.

Or I can just change it so that I only need 1 year for each point I want to add! Must've missed that somehow...


Anyway, Kivon makes contact with the colonist team that split off and went to Earth. They now reside fairly happily in a little place called Pakistan. He receives an agreement from Rixor Notran, the representative of the Pakistan colony, that they will follow what Kivon orders, at least to a certain extent.

((do I need to post a land claim on Pakistan or do I just say that's my "earth" land?))


I was also a bit tempted to start on Antiga, but:
1. I wasn't sure just how aggressive the UTF would be.
2. I didn't want to start off isolated from everyone.



((by the way, it seems like I'm doing things that other nations aren't doing (aka putting focus into social services). I'm probably going to become a very popular (if relatively weak in military) nation, right?))

Cool! Who knows, maybe I might make minor alliances (at least temporary treaties) with NPC's.


Kivon has heard stories of a new race, called "Illuminated," somewhere on this planet. While the stories mostly told of elitist fanatics with a tendency to eradicate everything that differs from them, Kivon was curious as to how advanced their technology really was. If he could glean some information, it could make the lot of the Protectorate significantly easier.

He sent out several scouting groups to locate any cities, outposts or other gathering places for the Illuminated, to try and learn just what they are like before deciding a course of action.

Since the Illuminated were nearly wiped out, they are willing to establish trade and sign a NAP with you.

Kivon's scouts return swiftly, stating that there is a small outpost nearby. They have agreed to set up a trade agreement, which Kivon endorses whole-heartedly. After all, an exchange of resources could only benefit the Protectorate. He also agrees to the NAP, a sort of assurance that there will be no harm from them. Then again, who knows how long they will keep their word...

(is there an application I need to post or do I just say basically that?

Also, i've noticed i'm one of the wordiest people here. Excuse me for that :) )


((i'm also starting out extremely slowly. I guess I'm a person who under-powers himself rather than overpowering. I mean, on page 8-9 there's someone starting like 20 projects at once. No way that's economically viable. If it is, please let me know so I can start some real projects!))

Originally you only could start in the 2nd system. However, due to low activity-I decided that people should be allowed to start on Earth. To create a plot device, the illuminated launched a massive strike on Earth, killing millions. The UTF eventually won but greatly weakened. So they appealed to second system nations to claim land on earth.

Oh it's no problem. I've just got a splitting headache so I'm not as wordy as I usually am.

You can start a ton of projects-we're just trying to get people up to speed quickly. We want space opera by like thread 2 or 3.
