The warrior battled through his tenth straight Abyssal Demon task. Ashes and demonic ichor covered his armor from head to toe ... or at least what wasn't dented and cracked from the beating it took from the demons' pincers.
His backpack was heavy. His arms were weary. He looked up to the monitor.
"Player. Are we done here? I'm getting bored with this."
The player nodded back, though the character couldn't see, but it could hear the player.
"I understand. So am I. But we need to pad a few more levels."
The character sighed.
"Look, buddy, I understand. But that boss
you
wanted to try .... I've seen what it took others to do to beat it. You're not quite there yet."
The character moaned. "Ugh. Can I at least do something else for a bit?"
The player knew they didn't exactly 'need' anything else at this stage. But the player was the one thinking several steps ahead. To the next quest. To the next update. The character was usually focused in the 'now'.
These negotiations could take a few minutes, depending on the mindset of the character.
But the player knew, if the character wasn't in the mood for something, they wouldn't be able to compromise.
Lately, the character wanted bigger and better challenges. New bosses, new fights. The player however knew that the next tier of gear would be needed to take them on. Gold wasn't so much of an issue. It was the efficiency at getting to the next tier and the patience needed to get there.
Combat was the main focus.
The player flipped through the quest log and miniquest list to see if there was
anything
that could kill 2 birds with one stone. But most of the remaining quests were skill focused, or further up the story line.
The player decided to call it a day "Let's just bank. Take a break for now. We'll figure out something later."
The character nodded and teleported.
