A voice seemed to come from it. "Quiet" it hissed, though its bleached jawbone did not move. Curiously, as it spoke, Keppon's fear left him and he felt only a desire to hear what this creature might do or say next,
"Come," it told him, standing up and gesturing for him to do the same.
He stood, facing the creature, whos black robes lifted, swirling in a small gust of wind as it turned, walking away, and, so it seemed, up into the air.
Keppon gazed at the creature, who stood in air about four feet from the ground.
"Come," it said again, looking down at him. He tried to follow, but suceeded only in walking along the ground beside it.
It gestured again, looking impaitent.
Suddenly he relized the problem, it was his body! It was to heavy to tread the paths of air.
With little regret he left it behind, lying by the shelter, and climbed the air behind the creature. They traveled on for a time, Keppon couldn't tell if the time was long or short, as somehow it didn't seem to matter here. Then they left the earthy darkness of the sky and entered a new place, a wonderful place.
Keppon looked down and couldn't tell if the 'ground' was blue, or green, or violet; then he saw that it was no like color he had ever seen, it was no colors, and at the same time it was all colors.
He looked to the sides, and he saw all his family, all his friends, everybody that he had loved or had loved him, around him, they had not died, they had come here! Here to the only place where nothing mattered, and everything mattered.
He looked to his side and saw that the creature had gone, where to he didn't know, but he knew that if he ever wanted him again then he would be there.
Then he looked up and smiled, because about two feet away stood his Karla, and then they were in each others arms.
