Jay thought of what their meanings could be. The pentagram itself could mean one of many things. But, it was the compass rose inside of it that really caught Jay's eye. It obviously made reference to the cardinal directions, to some sort of map.
As he examined his mini-map, he saw something very interesting: The ends of several pews , when connected by straight lines, made a perfect pentagram. He traced the invisible lines on his minimap, and noticed the center was exactly behind the altar.
Behind the altar, Jay saw a small white rug, with the symbol of two lion heads on it.
He lifted the rug, only to see the continuation of the stone floor. 'Something is wrong,' Jay thought. He examined his map again: he was sure the middle of the pentagram was here. But, there was nothing out of the ordinary.
He stepped on it, then knelt down and felt it with his hand. It seemed perfectly normal... then, suddenly, the stone square fell out from beneath him. All Jay could see was darkness.

Scyne entered the church, and quickly surveyed for anything out of the normal. Then, he saw it: the missing stone square. Jay was already here, and Scyne knew he wasn't far behind. Scyne leaned over the hole cautiously, only to hear a sickening thud. He grinned. Jay was definitely down there.

Jay finally regained his balance, and moved slowly to his feet. Unfortunately, he was either blind, or the room was pitch black.
Jay pondered the situation, and decided he needed to find a light source as soon as possible. He ran his hand along the walls, which seemed to be made of damp stone, similar to that of the church. Then, he found it: a torch holder.
Jay smiled to himself, and put a weak fire spell into the torch holder, giving a dull glow to the room. He turned to see his next challenge.
