Returning from the Earth Altar proved to be nearly effortless in comparison to trying to find it. All that was required to find Varrock was to scout out the smoke rising from the smithy or any citizen’s home that happened to have a fire going. If someone’s hearing was good enough, they may even be able to hear the faint chatter from whatever was going on in town. It was around about an hour or two when he finally managed to stroll into the northern entrance of town with a brisk jog. Although he had no physical reward to present, he was rather confident that the fact Varrock was still standing was enough to convince Rich that the job was complete.
Once in town, something hit Tash. He knew the spell to teleport to Varrock whenever he so pleased, but returning to Seer's Village had never been run past him. "Gah! How could I have forgotten to ask?" He found a broken crate in an alley to sit on and collect his thoughts after beating himself up over his stupidity. "Here I am, acting all cool telling Magenta that I'll come back no matter what, and yet now I've got no quick way back! The walk alone could take weeks!" He wiped the sweat from his brow and sat in silence to mope.
The boy sat for a couple of minutes until something started moving in the corner of his eye. He looked over to the back of the alley and noticed a lone brown and black striped cat creeping up on him. It sat down and stared at him and he stared back.
"Hey," purred the cat.
"Hey."
"Do you have any fish?"
"Not on me, no. Sorry."
"Know anyone that has any fish?"

A shadow cast itself on the wall behind the cat causing Tash to grip the sword on his back. These back alleys were known to be full of muggers and thugs, he made a note to not venture in too deep as a boy. The tension in the air rose as the shadow slowly edged further and further until a man garbed in a patched up old robe sprang forth on top of the cat.
"Whiskers, there you are! I've been rummaging through all these twists and turns for ten minutes trying to find you!" Tash loosened his grip on the sword and lowered his hand. Without turning to look, the man spoke to him. "You lost? Or maybe with that look, you lost something?"
Tash sighed and rose to his feet. "Well, I'm kinda' far from home." He looked over the man's robe a little more carefully and realized just how poor of a condition it was in, yet something else nagged him about it. "Those burns and tears on your outfit wouldn't happen to be from rune magic, would they?"
"Ahh, a keen eye for magic. They are. I guess you could call me a mage. Lately I've been slow in my studies though, ever since my darling daughter disappeared in a teleportation test."
A light went on. "Wait! Your daughter's name isn't Magenta is it?"
"Yeah, do you know her from somewhere?"
"I was talking to her almost a day ago. She was the one that told me the rune combination for teleportation to Varrock."
"Really? She's safe? Such a relief! Where'd she end up? Draynor? Lumbridge? Please say it was this side of the Salve!"
"Troll country actually. Way out north of Seer's Village."
The man shuttered at the thought. "That far? I think I'll make sure to keep that spell away from a few people." He perked back up. "So, where's she at? Hanging around somewhere in town?"
"Well," Tash paused, "she stayed back in Seer's. I came here to...take care of something."

Magenta's father's mood dropped again. "She's not coming home then? Gah, what a pity." Yet, just like that his smile returned. "So you need to get back to Seer's Village then?" Tash nodded. "Well then follow me back to my house, I don’t exactly remember the combination off the top of my head, but I've got a map I've been working on."
The two of them along with the cat pranced a few blocks over and down a couple of houses to Magenta's humble abode. From the street it looked like a plain old house with no difference to the ones on either side, but the inside. Within the small dwelling were books upon papers upon runes upon even more books. Unorganized could hardly compare. The fact that two people let alone one of them being female could live here was astonishing.
The man weaved his way through towers of papers like a mouse as Tash followed behind with the pace of a turtle so as to make sure to not knock anything over. The room they arrived in appeared to be a kitchen only hinted at from the larder and stove hidden amidst the clutter.

Tash halted as a thought from earlier came back to him. "Do you have any fish here? I think your cat would enjoy some."
"Fish? I haven't had any fish in ages. They get rotten and stink up the place so fast." The man returned to browsing through stacks of books but quickly popped back out. "When I found you, you didn't happen to be speaking to my cat, were you?"
Tash recalled the short conversation with Whiskers before Magenta's father had shown up. "Yeah, I did. I can talk with cats."
"You say that rather nonchalantly. I don't think I've ever come across a person capable of talking to cats, let alone any other animal."
"Funny, I actually met someone that can talk to wolves." He stopped to think about Rosco and wondered how he had been these past few days.
The man freed himself from the pile of books and papers he had wandered into with a rolled up map in hand. "Well, I found the map I had been making, but before we get to this, I'd like to know more about this ability you say you have."

Slow and steady wins the race! But perhaps not this slow. Not a very big add, I've still been tired and unmotivated. NaNoWriMo also just started and now I've got a 50k word novel to write before the end of the month. Tash may have to suffer a little longer.
