Name: Maol MacCennédig
Age: 40
6'7'' 270 lbs.

History: Born atop craggy foothills as the youngest son, his parents were Ethelreda Kilconquhar and Duncan MacCennédig. Maol grew up in poverty like most Highlanders, faraway from what civilization remained where hunter-gathering, fishing, trading and tribal warfare were the only means of survival. His brothers died at sea from a vicious storm.

Even before the ungodly calamities, cyclones and volcanoes punished the Highlands. The Underking's quakes and monsters ripped the Highlands asunder, making life harder. Those who survive here are exceptionally hardy.

Besides the caber toss, there was little time for games--violent childhood amidst natural disasters and vendettas spanning multiple generations decimated many clans. Survival of all this is testament of Maol's musculature and ferocity.

When Maol was twenty, his father was killed in battle by Uilleam McMhaoilchaluim. In the next battle, Maol slew his father's killer, which broke family ties with a clan ruled by Donnchadh mac Eanraig, who was later assassinated. Believing Maol to be the assassin, Waltheof Gillebrighde's warband nearly wiped out the MacCennédigs but the battle ended in a draw. Maol took leadership but had to merge with the Carothers for survival.

When twenty-two, Maol married Gunnilda mac Fergus and they had two sons. For a time, there was peace, but eager for revenge, Waltheof Gillebrighde returned in force and overran the Carothers. Maol's mother, wife and sons were killed in the attack.

By the end of the battle, chieftain Bruce Carothers slew Waltheof but later died of wounds, leaving Maol in charge of the MacCennédigs and Carothers. Unable to recover, the fragmented clans gradually dispersed.

Ever since, Maol adventures abroad Kaonus as a galloglass with mixed results, fighting alongside forlorn companies as they met their doom to attrition, monsters and rival mercenaries, but Maol remained uncaptured and unrelenting...

((Sorry Azi, but I'd rather you not have a full tribe of hardened monster slaying barbarians who kill and enslave everyone else. It's not really in the spirit of 'small group of strangers meet by circumstance and shit goes down'.)) I am Inferi.

Name: Leis Caulwen
Age: 16
Gender: Female

Appearance: Leis’ skin is a shade or two darker than the average city-dweller due to fieldwork for many years, and she has light blue eyes that are usually shining with hope. Her hair is sandy-colored and short, barely reaching her shoulders. While she is in shape for working at a farm, she is not exactly in shape for fighting anyone. Leis has always been on the weak side, and her less-than-impressive stature - 5’3” with a somewhat petite frame - emphasises that fairly well. At her age, she’s more cute than beautiful, although she would certainly like to be more sophisticated.

Attire/Armour: No armor. She wears a simple outfit, made up of a light brown long-sleeved top with darker brown pants, and a pair of solidly-made boots that are designed for heavy farm work. Over this, she has a dark green hooded travelling cloak and a pack that she carries all of her necessary food, gear, and supplies in. Around her neck, she wears a blue teardrop-shaped pendant on a silver chain, and although she doesn’t say much about it she never seems to take it off.

Weapon(s): A standard-issue soldier’s blade passed down from her grandfather. She has to carry it on her back as it is both too long and too unwieldy for her to carry at the standard hip position.

Magic: NOPE

History: Leis has a fairly unremarkable history. Like, really unremarkable. She’s the youngest daughter in a family of farmers, and, surprisingly for a PC in a world like this, her family is actually still alive and well. Either the village that she had lived in was too remote and small for anyone to care about going after, or they were blessed by some great stroke of luck. Either way, apart from small monster attacks, her childhood was undisturbed by problems like that.

Since she was young, Leis has always been a dreamer. Hearing and reading stories about the Paladins of old, she decided that she wanted to be like that: fighting for the light, for justice, for the people. There was just the complication that she possessed no training in such matters, and there was nobody around that could even begin to teach her such things. As it tends to happen, she was so infatuated with the dream that she neglected to actually go anywhere with the combat training that might allow her to become what she wished. Sure, her grandfather taught her the basics of combat, but she never really had the strength to use the only real weapon that he could bestow upon her.

The truth of reality didn’t stop her from setting out a couple years after her grandfather died, though, because someone who dreams to save humanity from the darkness can never be the light if they sit at home and wish that they were something they were not.

Other: Yes, this is mostly recycled.
