On the fringes of forums everywhere lies an apex predator. The perfect hunter, so devious in its ways that it makes it prey come to it.
The creature engorges itself on posts and threads that have long been abandoned or forced out. Thread after thread falling off of Page 50 of a sub forum, into the gaping maw of this creature.
This creature has existed since the beginning of the forums, and will be there, long after the end. When the time comes, as it does with all sites, the creature will gain one was meal, then slink off to yet another website.
One cannot forestall this creature's meals. A bump here. A comment there. The thread may be saved ... for a time. But the nature of the forum, when a thread goes to the front, another must take its place on the edge, dangling before the end. It matters little.
This monster has many names, but here, it seems to go by Chewy.
And if you thought you were innocent in knowing about this creature, bare in mind, that now you too had a part in it. For you see, when this very story was published, yet another innocent thread was cast off into the abyss for Chewy's gullet.
Another thread gone, but Chewy's hunger is eternal.
