“You want to get to the real Runescape?” it replied, and I nodded, now too scared to speak. There was silence again for another long period. “To get to the real Runescape, you must follow my instructions… You are already in the Wilderness. Walk. You are armed. You have food, runes, Ganodermic armour and an Armadyl battlestaff. There is no one else in the game save me. Kill me and you will be free*. And that was the last thing it said. I took a deep breath, which shook none the less. How could I though? How could I kill a super powerful being that managed to transport me, my in-game character, and my entire room into ‘his world’ and his Runescape? I looked out of the window again, seeing nothing but complete blackness. I shivered and contemplated what he said. If this is the only offer of escape, then it is the path Imustpursue. I looked back at the screen and collected myself. I clicked to move myself north determinately looking forward at the screen, not daring to look round in case that shadow was still lurking. Well, I knew it was… But I wasn't going to give it the satisfaction of showing how terrified I was of it, though, I was far more terrified of this battle. I was no noob, but I had always been terrible at Player Killing. Sure I can kill people in safe minigames, but* this is proper Wilderness duel, completely different. This was all or nothing.

I continued north, walking past the volcano. Once I was past, that’s where I saw it… A white dot on the minimap that wasn't me. I edged closer. It was… a female player? But the voice… It had been male? Never mind that now I thought, casting that curiosity from my mind, and I focused on what lie ahead. She turned to me, wearing full Perni*, equipping a Zaryte bow. She stepped forward, the black and purple armour concealing nearly all her skin, including her face which was covered by both a hood and mask.

She started towards me, but in no way a Runescape character had ever moved. Limping, with what looked like her ankle constantly breaking as it twisted with every step. She fell, and started to thrash around as though she was writhing in agony. Loud cracks sounded as though her bones were breaking and then a new voice spoke, or should I say screamed. It sounded like Nex's voice, one of the toughest bosses in the game. But it did not sound like it came from my computer, but instead the voice filled the room. She used Nex's dialogue too, but with some alteration… “At Last! Only death awaits you here fool. Now face me, know despair and when I kill you be forever trapped in your room with your own shadow as torment…” Wings erupted from the back of this character just like Nex's, red, large, and demonic. Unlike Nex she used them to fly, hovering in the air. She loaded her also black and purple bow and fired. The arrow hit a thousand damage on me. Instinctively I reacted clicking on her, freezing her with Ice Barrage and hoping to stun her with the Impact ability. She was enclosed in a large block of ice but she instantly spread her arms out arched her back shattering the frozen prison. I quickly began pressing other abilities and to my surprise, I was doing considerable damage. I reached fifty percent adrenaline in the game, which naturally built up as you fought. The higher adrenaline I got, the more powerful abilities I could use. I activated Asphyxiate, my character stretched out his arm chocking this Nex-player mutation. She then recited one of Nex's actual lines and said “Fear the Shadow”. Though this was a legitimate line, I knew at once what she meant, I whirled around and the shadow flung itself at me. I ducked and it went straight through the window like a ghost, falling* presumably, into the eternal abyss of nothingness.

The Nex creature was now firing arrow after arrow doing heavy damage. Quickly I spammed clicked the rocktails in my inventory to heal myself, I could feel my heart now pounding harder than ever, the sweat pouring as I recognised she was now using Rapid Fire on me, one of the most devastating abilities in the game. The green glow of many arrows showed and she took away half of my health in seconds. But I had kept attacking and it seemed that she did not have any food. I used Wild Magic and sent several blasts at her. But unlike anything I had ever seen, she used her wings to dodge my attacks. But I still had some adrenaline left, and using the Armadyl Battlestaff, I had the special attack. “Best hurry!” She screamed in Nex’s voice. And a cus*scene showed Zamorak and Saradomin walking in the Wilderness, towards… us!

I panted, terrified, I knew that they would be impossible to defeat. As I continued fighting I heard them roar as they gotcloser and closer. I spammed abilities without even thinking and to my surprise, I had one hundred percent adrenaline. This meant I could use the most powerful abilities. Now was my chance, this ability often misses* but if it succeeds… I looked at her health, it was less than a third, but so was mine and I had exhausted all my food. I fired Omnipower at her, throwing a huge ball of energy right at her. And it killed her. She fell from the sky and hit the ground, exploding, blood flying everywhere. The sound of the gods’ imminent arrival faded, and there was silence. After a long pause, the voice spoke again, returning to its male, Zaros-like tone, “Well done, you defeated me. To exit from my dimension, travel to the World Gate… I have lifted the force which normally prevents teleportation in the Wilderness.” Of course, it would be the World Gate, the gate that took you to another planet in a quest.

I couldn't help it, I smiled, I cheered, and I jumped for joy. I teleported to Eagles Peak knowing that soon I will be able to walk out of my door, that my room will no longer be stuck in this abyss and will (I hope) be attached to my house again. I will be escaping from this fake Runescape, and I will be playing the real Runescape. I ran from the Eagles Peak Lodestone through the trees, still no one in sight although, even in the real game, hardly anyone ever came here anyway. I continued south and made it to the World Gate. “You’re sure? You want to exit this world? Leave this abyss? And go forward to the real Runescape?” the voice said, once again, more like a whisper now than Zaros. “Yes, yes, YES!!!* I cried. *Then, click on the World Gate, and it will take you to the place you seek, you will be free”. I clicked on the World Gate, no options came up, no mention of Freneskae which is where this gate normally takes you to in the game. The screen faded into blackness… And then so did the real world. I panicked, but then realised I must be journeying home. I let out a smile. As soon as I get home though, I am going outside and then buying a new computer. Scratch that, first thing I’ll do is hug my family and friends and never take them for granted again having nearly lost everything…

Suddenly my feet hit hard ground. The impact was so sudden that my knees buckled and I fell forwards landing on all fours. My hands felt a rough surface, with loose stones that cut my hands upon the impact. I winced at the pain and tried to squint at the darkness. It took a few moments, but my eyes adjusted to the dark. This land, it looked a lot like… the Wilderness to be honest. I stood up and noticed a green glow. I turned and saw a very realistic looking World Gate. “Fascinating isn't it? How easy it is to fool young minds.” There was a shrill cold laugh. “Let’s go somewhere interesting”. And I was lifted off my feet and landed hard again, looking around at what still looked like the Wilderness, but with some ruins. “Where am I?!” I yelled at the darkness. “You promised me-“ But I was cut off by a louder voice which said “To take you to the real Runescape. And here you are. What did you think I meant, the game?”

I couldn't help but think, but this looks nothing like Runescape… “History is always ignored. Have none of you ever once noticed King Arthur’s presence in Runescape? He existed in your world you know, many centuries ago. Yet there he is in Runescape, even Camelot is there, yet none of you players have ever given this one thought. That quest you did, Fate of the Gods, didn't Zaros tell you the end of all things were to come?” And it hit me, the game was set in the past, Arthur had travelled somehow to Runescape from Britain, he even said this in the game, but in the myths he existed ages ago, centuries. And in Fate of the Gods, Zaros said* The end was coming, I thought, we the adventurers would prevent it. I looked around, the sky was dark, the ground was grey like the wilderness, and the ruins. I gasped, it was a half destroyed, desolate Lumbridge Castle! I walked inside, and saw a body by the fountain, in colourful robes with... blue skin. I approached seeing a lot of blood. He was cut in half, his entrails spilling out onto the floor, and his eyes… They were white and blind. There he lay, Saradomin, dead.

Tears flowed as it hit me, I was trapped here, in a dead world. In a world I had asked to go to without realising it. I reaslised this had been this evil beings’ plan all along. He took over my computer, my game and room the moment I went onto the wrong website, his website, his doorway to this... He was onlyeverguiding me to this place. A place where I could never escape from. And worst of all, The Elder Gods had won, and Runescape was no more. What was simply a quest, where Zaros told us the Elder Gods would soon destroy the world and the universe, was really… a reality, one which we had not prevented. Surely Jagex would have made it so we, the player, would have stopped this destruction in a quest? Jagex… this being that brought me here… Were they in this together? How is it that Jagex has made a game based upon a reality? How many more people had this been led here? How many have entered his realm simply by misspelling the website name? But then my thoughts went back to the real world, I would never again see my family, my friends, it was all gone… And in this now desolate Runescape, I was surely destined to starve here, or perhaps be killed by whatever wild creatures may be out there… I collapsed sobbing and that voice spoke, one last time.

“Welcome, to the final era of Runescape. Welcome, to the Seventh Age”.

And that is the end of the story! Any feedback will be well appreciated. Just going to point a few things out. Firstly this was originally intended for non-RS players as well as RS players hence why some aspects to you guys may seem too descriptive such as the descriptions of obvious things like lodestones being used to teleport etc. Of course I don't know why I bothered now seeing as the other website deleted it, oh well.

Secondly, (this part will later be deleted), due to this being edited on said other site, it has resulted in some errors here which I shall correct in due course. Though feel free to point any other though I am well aware that currently, some words are joined together. I have also had to change some words due to Jagex's filtering system and lastly there may be some asterisks present due to said filtering.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed my creepypasta/story! Please feel free to leave feedback. :)
