Chapter 21

Gul’dan watched in silent anticipation as goblins march out of the gate of Gornakhan. To Gul’dan’s surprise, rather than heading straight for the Alliance forces the goblins turned, and formed up outside the walls of the fortress. Row of after row of goblins formed up in silence, and still they marched from the fortress. Goblins now stood one hundred deep along the entire breadth of the fortress wall, which was roughly seven hundred metres long.

When the flow of goblins from the gates ceased one goblin came to the front, and in the guttural language of the goblins yelled “Shragaan ac daan khralkaan or Valkuugan ac kaar daar rhuul dhuul dhaal'dec akhuuc daan huuc!” Gul’dan knew nothing of the goblin tongue, but he knew that Valkuugan was their name for Zamorack.

At these words the goblins charged, the fire of hate evident in their eyes. They ran across the field like a great flood of darkness, their curved scimitars and axes raised above their heads. The army of the Alliance readied themselves, the men at the front lowering their spears against the goblin charge. From the back chanting could be heard, and the men could feel the power of the words encouraging them to fight harder than they before, and they felt power flow through their veins such as they had never known before.

The goblins broke upon the forces of the Alliance like a wave upon rocks. The first goblins were impaled upon the spears laid out for them, but the sheer weight of them broke through the first lines of the army, and so the battle became a fierce battle to the death for every man at the front of the army. Gul’dan’s blade flashed with a holy light as he brought it down on goblin bodies, slashing through muscle and tendons as easily as their armour.

From the back of the goblin army hundreds of arrows were launched into the air, distracting the men of the Alliance enough for the goblins to break even further through their ranks.

However the goblins had overlooked the power of the elven magi, and when the arrows drew near to the army of the Alliance they shattered or burst into flame, depending on where they were. Undeterred, more waves of arrows flew through the air until all one could see upon looking up was arrows.

The Kings, who stood at the front of the army of the Alliance were now fighting for their lives against dozens of goblins. The Elven King’s sword, Sothios Jhol, cut through the goblins, holding them back on the right flank of the King’s party. On the left the Dwarven King fought ferociously with his great battle axe, Pasael Shar. To the front fought the three Kings of men, whose swords were already black with the blood of goblins. Gul’dan, standing with the Kings of men, was slowly finding himself overwhelmed by the goblins, which came at them in the dozens.

Along the entire front of the army the battle raged ferociously, neither side giving anything away. Swords flashing, arrows flew, and flashes of light flickered from the magi. Already the piles of dead goblins were huge, and they kept growing. Though not as many men had fallen, their dead already numbered in the hundreds.

The elven magi, fighting alongside their brethren were the first to notice the reopening of the gates of Gornakhan. The first to notice was the elf Enuthil, who immediately entered the corridors of magic, and reappeared next to his king "Si karaer vaedael, eil thi khaset tysi saesys shok tyrti thys,” he said urgently to his King.

“The gates have reopened!” the Elven king said in common while simoutaneously decapitating a goblin. The other Kings acknowledged this, but were too busy fighting for their lives to do anything about it. Raising his hands the mage sent flickering lightning bolts from them, and around the kings the tide began to turn against the goblins.

All along the fields the magi had come to the front of the army, and their might coupled with the fighting prowess of the army of the Alliance began to drive the goblin forces back. Men fought next to the elves, who fought next to the dwarves, and together they forced the goblins slowly back.

Gul’dan was fighting a particularly large goblin when he heard a bellow of pain from behind him. A quick thrust of his blade ended the goblin, and he turned and saw the King of Ardougne doubled over, a spear through his chest. Blood trickled down from the wound and his eyes were wide and empty. Next to him the King of Varrock bellowed in anger and rage, and grabbing a spear from a dead goblin next to him he hurled clean through the goblin who had impaled the King of Ardougne. The goblin’s smug expression turned to one of shock, and then pain as he died, cursing all of them to a slow death. The King of Varrock raised his sword once again, and standing next to Gul’dan they hammered into the force of goblins, their anger lending them strength.

Suddenly the goblin forces fell back, and a great drum began to beat. Turning to look at the gates the army of the Alliance saw trolls and ogres exiting the fortress in the hundreds, ready to fall upon the smaller men, elves and dwarves like wolves among sheep.

Yes, I know that. I knew him of old, when TGP flourished, and Smeeze was, well, Smeeze.

But I'd really prefer that if you're going to be posting on my thread it was about my story, rather than someone I mentioned in passing.
