However the goblins had overlooked the power of the elven magi, and when the arrows drew near to the army of the Alliance they shattered or burst into flame, depending on where they were. Undeterred, more waves of arrows flew through the air until all one could see upon looking up was arrows.
The Kings, who stood at the front of the army of the Alliance were now fighting for their lives against dozens of goblins. The Elven King’s sword, Sothios Jhol, cut through the goblins, holding them back on the right flank of the King’s party. On the left the Dwarven King fought ferociously with his great battle axe, Pasael Shar. To the front fought the three Kings of men, whose swords were already black with the blood of goblins. Gul’dan, standing with the Kings of men, was slowly finding himself overwhelmed by the goblins, which came at them in the dozens.
Along the entire front of the army the battle raged ferociously, neither side giving anything away. Swords flashing, arrows flew, and flashes of light flickered from the magi. Already the piles of dead goblins were huge, and they kept growing. Though not as many men had fallen, their dead already numbered in the hundreds.
The elven magi, fighting alongside their brethren were the first to notice the reopening of the gates of Gornakhan. The first to notice was the elf Enuthil, who immediately entered the corridors of magic, and reappeared next to his king "Si karaer vaedael, eil thi khaset tysi saesys shok tyrti thys,” he said urgently to his King.
“The gates have reopened!” the Elven king said in common while simoutaneously decapitating a goblin. The other Kings acknowledged this, but were too busy fighting for their lives to do anything about it. Raising his hands the mage sent flickering lightning bolts from them, and around the kings the tide began to turn against the goblins.
