The She-Wolf of Senntisten, the legend of a Zarosian Knight
Part One: Origins
The legend begins in the Fremennik Province. In the late years of the Second Age, before the God Wars, a girl was born in the Fremennik tribe, named Lyra. Just minutes after her birth, she was taken away from the tribe by her father. The sad reason for this was because her mother was a member of the Moon Clan, who the tribe had a bitter hatred for.
In exile, she was raised by her father, Olaf, a proud warrior and hunter, recognised by the tribe's leader for his prowess in battle. They lived high in the mountains, away from the nomadic tribes, so that they could be left in peace.
As Lyra grew up, she became very beautiful, with long flowing fiery red hair and pale grey eyes like runestones. She was quick to learn the way of a warrior and her father was impressed, and almost scared, by her skill.
Her life was quiet, and she was unaware of the events that would change her life forever.
At the age of twenty, she was out hunting for Polar Kebbits. She almost had one, ready to release the arrow from her father's bow, when she heard a shout that echoed across the valley. She recognised that scream as her father's and rushed back to the camp in fear. She nearly started crying at what she found. A wolf, nearly as tall as her, was attacking her father. She saw that his left arm was maimed and bloody from several vicious bites. She heard endless shouts from her father, telling her to run. But she couldn't. She stood there, frozen, panicking. Then, a surge of fear and anger overwhelmed her. The wolf could feel it. It growled and prepared to lunge at her. She grabbed her father's sword and, as the beast jumped, she buried the blade right between its eyes. The wolf collapsed.
There was no howl nor whine of defeat.
The blood-covered girl ran to her father. He had died from blood-loss. Shocked at what happened, she began to cry. She was cold, afraid and alone.
