Stronger Than You
Sirco v Hanzo

"Sisiamo spoke poorly of your combat abilities, you should be thankful she is not the Battlemaster else the Tengu here would view you as nothing more than a Trespasser." Hanzo had led the pair to a small courtyard where a small contingent of crow feathered Tengu were resting within the waters that flowed from the hot springers higher in the mountain.

Without a word the group had hastily cleared the courtyard and watch from the sidelines with curiosity as Hanzo relinquished one of his two swords to Sirco who pulled it free from the scabbard, "She attacked me and I had no qualm with her, might have seen her killed otherwise."

"Can you back it up?" He looked to Hanzo then their surroundings, a bridge was the centrepiece of the garden and the only solid ground available to them. The rest was snow, and beneath that sand hardly an ideal surface upon which to duel. "Admittedly my skill with the blade is something rusty. I much prefer a rifle."

"Little choice you have." Hanzo replied drawing his blade and for better or worse the pair began to circle the arena each seeking out a better position upon the battlefield. "I presume we are not trying to kill each other?"

"What fun would it be otherwise?" Hanzo replied much to opponents dismay he smiled at the reaction, "Relax I won't kill you, just rough you up a bit..."

There was little point in further discussion exchanging one final glance to the weapon he gathered strength in his leg launching an attack. The initial strike was blocked and just as swiftly two strikes returned in his direction the first he deflected while shifting his own weight to reposition himself at Hanzo's flank evading the second and seeking to recover. Little chance of that however, as Hanzo continued his offensive striking low and then high while his talons struck at Sirco's knee.

It forced Sirco to stumble and strike wildly in order to force Hanzo back and allowing him the time necessary to get some semblance of footing back. He struck again, this time aiming for the shoulder hoping to disarm his opponent, but he was ill prepared for the attempt and catching the blade on the sword he deflected Sirco and his weight forward into him where he turned to strike an elbow into the gut and face.

Again he fell back the sand giving way beneath him as Hanzo sought to capitalise on his opponents imbalance and strike at his waist. He caught his balance moments later shoes being torn into by talons of his own that dug deep into the unforgiving earth charging forward without hesitation. Hanzo blocked and turned back leaping upon one of the nearby boulders as Sirco gave pursuit vaulting to evade the strike his opponent had now taken the high ground upon the edge of the bridge poised for a counter attack.

He did not allow it and no doubt Hanzo expected the full on assault that came his way, but in those final moments he went low using the snow and sand to his advantage he kicked up powder and dirt in hopes of blinding his foe even if temporarily. Hanzo leaped back, over the side and into the stream retreating from the high ground that Sirco had now taken.

He wasn't blinded but he had lost the advantage moving to cut across Sirco's ankles. He hoped up avoiding the blade and came down upon him from above using his weight to his advantage the Tengu managed to block but was forced back taking a wild swing, blocking Sirco held his blade beneath his and twisted it to the sharpened edge sending sparks flying as the blade ground together along it's path to Hanzo's neck.

A quick movement meant the blade narrowly missed and both now stumbled back from one another in a brief and welcome respite. Blood stained Sirco's shirt where a cut had formed across his waist and energies flowed in the wind from Hanzo's cheek. "You use the environment. Good." Hanzo smirked

"Are you satisfied, can we end this charade?" Sirco replied he had not come here to fight let alone the very people he came here to see. It all felt too much like home was hounding him and history beginning to catch up far too soon, without a reply Hanzo went on the offensive each blow now faster and more dangerous than the last it forced Sirco in a horrible situation that saw him backed up against the wall until he could no longer keep up a clean strike to his shoulder that painted the walls in red.

He side stepped and went into an retreat until he came to a balcony forcing him to turn and face his adversary. More blows exchanged but this time Sirco had the edge, and as the final strike clashed both had ended in a deadlock with a simple piece of footwork Hanzo was caught off guard and disarmed but hardly defenceless.

Thinking to claim victory he poised his blade for a final blow that wouldn't be delivered he was ready to stop himself before drawing blood but as strike was made Hanzo caught it and threw him aside rolling in the snow. Picking up the now discarded blade he thrust it down into Sirco's palm holding the second to his neck, "Far better than I expected, no common feat to take my blood."

Sirco tensed in pain struggling not to bite his tongue as Hanzo pulled free the blade. There was the sound of voices and running as two Tengu reached the balcony staring down at him before exchanging a glance to Hanzo, "He did well. See that he is taken care of."
