This is a really promising start. It's been a while since I've seen some good quality writing such as this on these forums. I've only had time to read the first page, but will get around to reading the rest.
I used to roam these forums back in 2008, guys like Capt Chekaka, Elitemage, Yrolg, some others were around. Been sometime since I've been back and my writing style has certainly changed.
You're welcome, I'm just glad to see writing of any sort in this place.
Ah yes, those names are familiar to me, Yrolg still drops by on the (increasingly) rare occasion, as does Chek. People have a habit of coming back to this place.
Anyway, I've caught up with my reading of this. It certainly gives the impression of being a deep and intricate story--there's a lot to take in early on, although I expect some of these things will become clearer as the story progresses. You evidently have a knack for description and character portrayal, which makes for a vivid reading experience.
Was good times back then. Hopefully I see more of them back here in the old forums.
As for the story, the intention indeed is to have a very long, intricately drawn out twist and turn of events on a large scale that lead on to one or two final end games, an elaborate chess game between exotic forces, ie. "An Eschaton's Gambit" (eschaton is a word from the bible that describes the End Times, judgment day, etc).
If you have any questions, please let me know. Character or story wise. I'm trying to slim down on the background narrative detail, like when I describe as a narrator what something is--rather, I want the characters to kind of do that themselves. I'll be editing over time.
