You see, if I wrote "I call it", then by the time I post it, my calling it has already happened in the past. Thus, as soon as I write "I call it!" it is proper for me to then change it to "Called it!" Besides, in my part of the world at least, you say "called it!", not "I call it!" Or at least, not necessarily. Sort of slang, you see.
