Chapter 16 – Rising Thunder
Darklago opened his eyes. He was slumped up on a ridge of the pond in Falador Park. Houses were in flames and bodies scattered the ground. Valicus was nowhere to be seen. Darklago looked down at his chest to see blood everywhere – it wasn’t a deep cut but he was bleeding a lot, so something must have happened to Valicus. He tried to get up but he struggled as the pain took hold. When he got up he looked at the bridge. Ransar*s sword was stuck through the head of a LOD Conscript. Neither Ransar nor Tanis were still in the park. Darklago groaned as he limped out of the park.
The ground exploded behind Emmerai as she jumped over the wall. She dropped her spear and hear it clunk down into the moat below. Three Conscripts closed in and she went straight into the middle one, bringing a nasty uppercut into his mouth. The one on the left tried to cut in but she kicked him away and he stumbled over the wall. The Third began to run away but suddenly jerked when a crossbow bolt hit him in the back. Slowly the Conscripts surrendered themselves on the walls of Fort Falador.
Lady Askula, the only Lady of Dominance, was sitting at a desk underground with the rest of the LOD elite standing beside her. Valicus was sitting in the corner, covering an arrow wound in his arm. Tanis had temporarily lost sight in one eye and was stumbling around, and was thankful when Kejii grabbed his shoulder and helped him steady himself. Tanis was stunned and would not forget Ransar butting him in the eye and pushing him off the bridge. Askula was a seasoned warrior and like most LOD generals she was not used to this new pattern of defeats. Usually when the LOD lost a battle they would counterattack immediately but now things were getting desperate.
A messenger covered in blood with an arrow in his chest came into the room, supported by two soldiers. He moaned as he tried to speak. “Maam, orders *-f-rom the top!” She growled in his face. “What are they?”

He was a young lad, but she was a fanatic – she did**t care. He spoke up with blood dribbling from his lips. “Pull back to Varrock. Defend the Tower of Zamorak at all…all…c-cos…..” He dropped dead before he could say “costs”. She went pale and cleared the contents of her desk into her bag. “Pass the word around the Fort. Get out of the city and back to Varrock and resist any enemy attempt at capture. Send that order to every person we have.” She turned around and picked up the bag. “Pack you’re things. We must defend the Tower.”
Armenk walked into the command tent in the ruins of Falador. “Major Oosakalal, what intelligence have you gathered on the Tower of Zamorak?” The Major was a massive man, stocky and 7 foot tall. “The Tower is a Zamorakian artefact uncovered a few years ago. His supporters have built temples and other places of worship around it. We believe it is around 100 meters tall.” Armenk nodded. *Ok, we need to think about what to do. What options do we have?” The Major coughed and continued, “We basically have 2 options. We can do it the hard way and commit a full on force against a weapon that we do not know the capabilities of, BUT if we destroy it, LOD will fall apart. Either that or we can raid Varrock Palace and assassinate the 9 lord and 1 lady. Apparently, they have special stones that they can connect to this magical tower to begin something they call “The Great Path to Glory.”” Armenk nodded. “Lets do it the easy way. Corporal Anders, for the record label a file and put in the details of the mission…”
“It’s time we took them and this rising thunder out of the equation.”
