Today was interesting. Legend and I had a bit of an adventure this evening, which was good. We need to keep sharp. I’ll relate the day’s events here.
In the morning we taught the innkeeper a lesson–Legend and I both were forced to sleep in beds filled with insects. We had to sleep on the floor to get away from them, which did not do anything good for our backs–or our tempers.
No guest should have to put up with such conditions, so we spoke to the owner in the morning.
When Legend lifted him up by the collar, the look on his face was priceless.
He agreed to refund our money, along with the money of the other guests who had stayed the night. He also promised to replace the beds as soon as possible. We will be coming through there on our way back, just to make sure he kept his word.
Not too much happened on the trek to the next village. Once, we got waylaid by highwaymen–four of them. They were only armed with sticks and daggers though, and we made short work of them. Our wallets gained about five hundred gold pieces from that job.
We made the village of Edgeville a few hours before full dark, and, after reserving rooms, we decided to go to the inn’s bar. First though, we had to change. Legend wore a white shirt that left his arms bare, exposing his muscles. Over that, he wore a gold button-up shirt, with black pants.
I wore a gold dress, slightly low-cut, that fell above-the-knee. Then I cast a spell on Legend that we always used before going out. It could change our eye colour from our normal bright gold, to a nice, shining, blue. Then Legend cast it on me. Now we looked like normal people, instead of gleaming golden sun sorcerers.
Now we could go.
The ‘Drunken Donkey’, which had a charming sign with a picture of a half-smashed ungulate, was a rowdy place, filled with the smell of beer and sweat. The dancing floor was crowded, and dirty, unshaven, men stuck to the bar like ants to honey.
