Ivy Levitan was dead.

At least, that was what the news said.

Actually... That was what everyone said.

'GRIZZLY MURDER IN DOWNTOWN NYC!'

'YOUNG GIRL BRUTALLY KILLED BY CONFIRMED SERIAL KILLER!'

'THE GREY HALL GRINDER CLAIMS A SEVENTH VICTIM!'

It was all over the headlines. New York City's latest serial killer had claimed a new victim, a young woman, just 23 years old, who had last been seen walking home from work the night before. Her body, or what was left of it, turned up in a dumpster thirty blocks from where the last victim's body was found. She, like the others, had been repeatedly stabbed, bludgeoned and had her limbs severed before the body was dumped in what the police assume is a meat grinder.

Reading about it made Ivy's blood boil.

She tossed the newspaper across the motel room with a frustrated grunt, lying back on the cheap bed she'd forced herself to sleep on and staring up at the ceiling. Rather, she stared up at a reflection of herself... Or what she supposed was her new self. She really hadn't been pleased when she realized a mirror had been placed on the ceiling above the bed. Good thing it was pretty handy in her unusual situation.

The face that stared back at her was not the face that'd done so for the last twenty-three years of her life. This face had paler skin, shorter hair and mysterious blue eyes. Not to mention a pretty killer body, not that she was especially comfortable with thinking that right now. How had this happened? How was it possible? Well... She had an answer for the first question, or at least a partial answer.

It wasn't a pleasant series of memories. Last night she'd been on her way home from work when she was hit over the head with something and knocked unconscious. Next thing she knew she was strapped to a cold, metal counter with a masked man staring down at her, knife in hand. She must'** cursed at him more than anyone before in her life... Not that it did any good when he started stabbing her.

Stab. Stab. Stab.

God... It'd been like no pain she'd ever experienced. It was like her killer knew the exact places to stab to cause her the most pain, avoiding all the vital regions just so that she'd stay alive for longer. There was no way she could've kept track of the time even if there had been a clock on the wall, but the torture, the slow murder, had gone on for what felt like a lifetime. The last thing she remembered before her eyes closed for good was her killer lifting his mask up just enough for her to see his sick, twisted grin of pleasure.

Ivy's eyes snapped open and, with a furious cry, she slammed her fist down upon the bedside table. The piece of furniture crumbled under the force of her blow, completely splintering and collapsing into a shattered mess. The young woman slapped her forehead. She really had to get this newfound strength under control before she accidentally broke someone's spine.

It had only emerged after her 'awakening', which was what she mentally referred to as the moment she opened her eyes again after dying. She'd woke up in an alley in the dead of night, completely in the buff, right beside the dumpster where her ground body had been tossed away like processed meat. Things went by like a blur after she saw that. Returning to her apartment, breaking in, grabbing clothes, valuables and anything she deemed important, then finding a motel where she slept the rest of the night and most of the day away.

Yesterday she had died and been reborn. Today she wondered why. Soon she would search for answers.

And soon she was going to find that son of a bitch who killed her.

...Just another night in New York City.

~SUMMARY~

WELCOME BACK TO ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY, KIDS!

And for those here in the story forum who know nothing of it, welcome to the roleplay I post every other month!

On this roleplay, one particular day, your character is killed in some way. They could have been shot, stabbed, fallen from a great height, hit by a car... Anything! Not long after your demise, whether it be seconds, minutes or even hours later, your character will reawaken a very short distance from where they died. Their corpse will be where they perished, of course, and they will be completely different. So different, in fact, that nobody would ever believe them to be the person who passed on.

Not only this, but we will also find ourselves Inhuman. Our deaths changed our appearances and, for some of us, our personalities. But what they have also done is turned us from Humans into other races, turning us into something that is anything but ordinary.

Now, what are you gonna do with this second chance at living? Try and build a new life? Wallow in self-pity? Enact revenge upon your murderer? Become a superhero? Rob banks? The city is our playground, folks. Do what you want to do, create your own plots, make your own antagonists, make things interesting!

But one big question will remain above all else. What happened to you? How were you brought back? Why? Who did it? Perhaps we will find the answer, and perhaps we won't. But for now, tell me something...

What will you do with your new life?
I am Inferi.

~RULES~

1: Dem generic rules, brah. For those unaware... no godmodding, powerplaying, autohitting, autokilling... The basic laws of courtesy for roleplays.

2: Romance is totally allowed and encouraged, bruddah.

3: Be who or what you wanna be, but use a little discretion.

4: Don't expect me to come up with all the plot hooks and storylines on this roleplay. This is a total free-roam, so you make the plots, drag others into them and have fun even when I'm not around!

5: If the majority of people vote to timeskip, then a timeskip will be allowed. Only until morning, evening and such, however. Longer skips will need my permission.

6: Really feel free to get some creativity flowing, but at the same time try not to go TOO overboard.

7: You aren't the only non-human out there. In fact, New York City has a pretty varied population! Not that most humans are aware of it, and non-humans are still in a vast minority.

Characters will go here if I ever feel like updating it.

Ivy Levitan - Previously a young bartender with anger issues, Ivy's temper has not been calmed with her rebirth into a powerful Revenant. If anything, it's only gotten worse. Luckily she's a lot less inclined to take a swing at someone now that her punches could take off their head! Or... That's what she hopes.

Name: Ivy Levitan.
Age: 23.
Gender: Female.

Race: Revenant.

Race Description: Among the kinds of Undead out there, Revenants are some of the most powerful. Unlike zombies they are not raised by the hand of a necromancer, they raise themselves from the dead through sheer willpower alone... Though that may be helped along by an intense drive towards doing a certain something. Far and few between, Revenants could be driven by rage, revenge, justice, curiosity or a great many other things. Most allow this drive to consume them, to become all that they know, but a few retain their sense of self and, while driven, they are not consumed.

An ability possessed by Revenants that is unique among the Undead is that of high grade regeneration. Where other Undead may have their flesh rot, bones break and wounds remain, Revenants may harness the raw power of their own will and use it to regenerate from their wounds. They do not require food or water, or even oxygen, to survive but they still have phantom feelings of hunger and thirst that can be satisfied through eating. They do not need sleep though they are still capable of it, and they DO feel exhaustion through extended use of their harnessed willpower.

Revenants also possess immense physical strength and stronger bodies, making them highly dangerous opponents. They also, despite being Undead, are not cold. In fact... They are quite warm. There may be more to say, but for now this will do.

Appearance: Starting from the top Ivy has short hair, the longest part only coming to touch the back of her neck. It's naturally wispy and styled to be messy, which basically means all she does is tousle her own hair in the morning and she's good to go for the day. It's rather thick and soft, a pleasure to run your hands through if you ever managed to reach such a stage, and her slight fringe tickles just above her eyes, sweeping a little bit to the right.

It's a pretty lovely vanilla blonde colour.

Next up, Ivy's eyes are a deep, dark blue that provide her gaze with a certain... Fullness. They're like a pair of mana pools, somehow mystical and mysterious even if they don't seem to do anything special. Anyway, the rest of her face is equally pleasant to look at. From her small nose to her sweet pink lips, healthy white teeth (and a great smile!) and smooth, kissable cheeks.

Her skin is remarkably free of blemishes, presumably due to the fresh 'birth' of this new body. It is naturally rather pale, something that no amount of sun ever seems to change. She still can't get a tan, doesn't matter how hard she tries. Still, pale seems to suit her features a lot better than a tan ever would. She's not all that tall, a fairly simple 5'6" in total, with a fine shape to match it. Ivy is slender with a highly athletic figure, visible definition to her muscles indicating her to be stronger than her initial appearance may suggest.

Just a few more details now. She has a flat stomach leading up to a modest, C-cup bust. Her hips have a few nice curves that lead around to a firm, albeit small, toned rear that many a man would find themselves saying "dayum" over when it passed them by. All in all, Ivy's a hell of a girl.

Clothing: Ivy's wardrobe is, or was, fairly varied for the most part, although she seems to avoid skirts and dresses like the plague. Shirts, blouses, jeans, pants, shorts, trainers, sneakers, boots, all kinds of things for different times. Often it depends on what kind of situation she's getting herself into. Currently it consists of a pair of black cargo pants with pale white highlighting for the multiple pockets adorning them, leading down to a pair of thick black combat boots designed to take a lot of punishment.

Upwards to her top there is a pretty nice red and black checkered button-up shirt, occasionally accentuated by a dark red tie she'll loosely fit around the collar. Over that Ivy throws on a leather jacket, which is specifically a tough black biker jacket with so many pockets and zips she often struggles to count them.

Short History: TO BE WRITTEN LATER.

Other: Ivy is based.
