Days go by where I remember with great fondness a time in life that was more simple. A time where I would have a rush of euphoria as I took in the sun setting on the sand bar woven with hues of pink, orange and blue. This was the time where I could still feel something in the cold, happy and content that I had a jumper that would keep me warm, but still feel the shivers of delight being in the moment.

As I would sit there at the desk where I had grown up with my good mates, basking in the third degree smoke of cigarettes that wafted through the door way from the kitchen as my mate's dad smoked. There in that room I would come to understand what mate ship was, what great friends I had and times we shared are irreplaceable. There in that room featured two computers, one connected to the internet where we would play countless hours of RuneScape, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, and Call of Duty. In the middle of the room was a ping pong table, so when 2 of us weren't playing or watching we could have a great rally of table tennis.

As I watched my friend eagerly play these great games over the years, I remember with great fondness a radio station 4KQ. It played great classical hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It would play Benny and the Jets, Meat Loaf, or even a Huey Lewis number.

When we would get bored of this computer recreational room, we would make our way to the lounge area which featured a great big old school TV with a Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii, and Xbox 360. Our favourite game for us 4 was Super Smash Bros Melee, and of course we waited in great anticipation at the time for Super Smash Bros Brawl on the Wii which seemed an eternity!
My best mate's favourite player was Marth and I could never defeat him one on one. I may have got close to beating him with wolf by the time Brawl came out, and my tactic was to roll and dodge as much as I could. Unfortunately for me these tactics were fruitless and he got the great "KO!".

If it wasn't for all the great memories on the gaming consoles, then there was room for the outside world where we had many great adventures on their acerage property which even had a great big shed for making skate ramps. There were also chickens on the property which we all named them upon buying them. There was even a hen initiation (if you could call it that..) and when the new hen would come in to the cage, it would soon learn its place on the pecking order, no literally! The hen would be attacked upon getting comfortable in its new home, and soon it would need to either show it meant business or take the high road and find another spot in the cage. There was only one chicken being the smallest that could show his true courageous spirit, and so we named this chicken Gravox.

I have many other memories, some that aren't so good about this place, but most of them are all cherished. I leave writing this short account of a time I remember, a time that is distant, and a time in my muddled thoughts and often agoraphobia psyche that I wish I could transport back to, even for just a long hour moment to hug that part of me and tattoo it as a safe timestamp in my brain.

Thanks for reading.
