Secondly, I think that communing with nature is overdone. Ghosts is overdone. Psychic is overdone. However, go with the nature one.

Alright. Let's see. I never said they were horribly clichéd, because the way you use them can change that. I just said that those were the obvious choices and that's what I meant be "overdone".
As for using them, use nature and bring it about in an original fashion. Don't use it like others have and you'll be fine.
