Originality
Boring...Boring...Boring...
Some stories out there can be quite boring. There are many reasons. Some are lacking in grammar and spelling (this makes the story look wierd which makes it boring), length (if its to short, then we're done reading it fast and we're bored in like five minutes) and many others. But ine of the main reasons people get bored is because of originality.
When something is original that means people have followed a similar plot over and over again. Just a little tweaking can make your story not original. It's pretty easy, but most people think it's so little, they don't need to pay attention to it. But really, it's the main aspect of your story! It leads to the plot, it leads to the desciption it even leads to the characters. Let me show you some examples of originality.
-Noob Story Originality
In 'Noob Stories' people always use cheese and pie and making fun of Guilds as a way of comedy. Well, from many readers' point of views, this gets really old, really fast. Why does it get old? It's original! So tweak it with maybe lobster or something else!
-Prose Story Originality
There are a lot of different topics in prose stories so it looks like it's hard to make something original. Well, it's not! Just using the same idea as someone such as fighting at a certain time or saying the same line is considered original. I see a lot of stories about young men around teh age of 16, becoming White Knights and leading there fello knights to victory! Well, that's too original. Maybe mix it up like having the main character be a Mercenary or make him be a thief or something like that. That can really make your story less original, and less boring.
Remember, originality = boringness!
