If you're bored on a skill take a break maybe to work on another skill, for example I was working on 80 thief, when I got to 75 I was so bored off it I decided to do some construction then I got back to thieving and wasn't as bored
Also if you're doing a skill you really don't like and want to quit it immidiately, do it with another skill, like I hated thieving&mining once and they were both lvl 60'* and I was aiming for lvl 65, and I got 61 thieving, then 61 mining and so on. It really helped me

When you want a level, play agressively. Focus on getting that level, and think of the rewards. Also, HAVE FUN AND KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE! The rewards are greater than you expect, so never give up.

1) Set a timetable (if it is possible).
For example, I am going for 99 Firemaking. I plan to burn 1k+ logs for the next 90 days to get my goal. It is not too stressful, it is feasable, as well as it gives me an idea as to when I will be finished.
In this way, I have a goal to reach daily, that will get me to my ultimate goal before I know it.
2) The best way to keep you going on a goal, especially for me, is to find something to surprise you every day or week.
For example, I make money using Miscellania. Every week, I can collect my earnings from it, and have a nice surprise waiting for me.
Lastly, along with something fun for you, try to keep it from being monotonus.

I've found, contrary to other people, that doing another skill, can distract you from completing your goal(s).
For Example(This particular time, it was a game update that distracted me) : On my other account, I was going for 99 firemaking, then the PvP worlds came out and completely distracted me. I eventually just sold the logs for PvP gear, and stopped at 70 Firemaking.
So, my advice is try to concentrate ONLY on the skill you are training and try not to get distracted by anything.
